Ogun police recover 16 vehicles; arrest 8 armed robbers in 2 days

The Ogun State police command on Wednesday announced that it has recovered 16 stolen cars within two days. The force also said it also arrested eight armed robbers and identified the gangs’ hideouts.

The command in a statement issued by its public relations officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, in Abeokuta said the feat was recorded when its State CID anti-robbery team and Anti-crime men attached to Ibafo Division of the command, uncovered the hideouts of armed robbers and recovered the stolen cars with assorted arms and ammunition.

He said the recovered vehicles were stolen from various parts of the country and the recoveries are as a result of robust intelligence gathering of the command.

Mr. Adejobi said the Ogun State commissioner of Police, Okoye Ikemefuna, who personally visited some of these hideouts, expressed disappointment in the way people perceive armed robbery as a legitimate business while causing untold pains on the victims of such robbery cases.

He stated further that the suspects are currently at the state CID Eleweran Abeokuta where they are assisting the police in their investigation adding that they will soon appear in court after thorough investigations.
