Government relaxes Kaduna curfew

The Kaduna state government on Monday relaxed the curfew imposed on the state since last week.

Persons were allowed to move about between 12 noon and 4.00pm on Monday; while on Tuesday, the hours will be stretched to nine hours, from 7.00am to 4.00pm.

The curfew rules as stated above are applicable only in some select towns as – Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Igabi, and Chikun LocaL Government Areas. In the remaining 19 council areas in the state, movement will only be allowed from 6.00pm to 6.00am.

The Kaduna state government on Sunday, June 17, imposed a 24-hour curfew on the state after reprisal attacks following the bombing of three churches in the state by members of the terrorist Boko Haram group.

The curfew was relaxed the next day; but shortly after the announcement of the relaxed curfew, the youth in the state unleashed mayhem causing a reinstatement of the 24-hour curfew on Tuesday, June 19.

The curfew was adjusted on Friday, June 22 and Sunday, June 24, to allow  Muslims and Christians go their places of worship.
