Gunmen kill Deputy Leader of Yobe assembly and an ex-SSS official in Gombe

Gunmen on Tuesday morning struck in Yobe state killing the Deputy Leader of the State House of Assembly, Adamu Degubi.

The Public Relations Officer of the Yobe State Police Command, Adamu Salihu, confirmed the killing of the legislator.

“We have not ascertained those behind the killing and their motive.

“Investigation is going on to establish those who killed him and why he was killed,” Mr. Salihu said.

The late legislator was elected into the state’s assembly in 2011, to represent Nangere Constituency.

He was elected Deputy House Leader last month, following a minor reshuffle in the assembly.

In Gombe, the gunmen killed a retired official of the State security service (SSS), Aliyu Abubakar.  Mr. Abubakar was shot by the gunmen in Yulunguruza Quarters of the state at about 6.30 p.m. on Monday while performing ablution in his friend’s house.

The director of the SSS in Gombe, Bitrus Asher, who confirmed the incident stated that Mr. Abubakar, who was shot at the back, was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in the state, where he died.
