JTF in massive onslaught on Boko Haram in Maiduguri, fierce gun battle rages

Reports reaching us from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, indicate that there is an ongoing gunbattle between the Joint Military Task Force and the extremist Boko Haram sect.

Residents say the battle is ongoing between the West End area of the city  to Custom and Shehuri area.

Details of the battle is still sketchy but reliable sources in the city say it started when the JTF tried to dislodge the group from the area.

Residents of the area in Maiduguri began relocating on Monday in anticipation of the onslaught. The feared being caught in crossfire between members of the Boko Haram sect and men of the Joint Task Force (JTF).

Residents also say the Boko Haram sect had threatened to attack the military and security agencies in the city.

Also, some residents of Lawan Bukar area in the city fled their homes  shootouts and killings were reported the previous night.
