Unknown assailants kill newly-wedded man, two others in Maiduguri

Unknown assailants in Maiduguri have killed Mustapha Kalli, a 25-year-old, barely three weeks after he got married.

The assailants murdered Mr. Kalli in the early hours of Sunday at his residence in Lawan Bukar ward in Maiduguri metropolis.

“He was sleeping with his beloved wife when the killers struck. They actually scaled over the fence of the house before killing him in front of his wife,” narrated Modu Malla, a neighbour.

Mr. Malla said he was woken up by a noise coming out of the deceased’s resident late in the night.

“We heard noise coming from the house but nobody could come out because of the curfew.

“It was later in the morning that we discovered that Kalli had been murdered by unknown persons,” he said.

Mr. Malla said the killers had escaped without any trace.

He said that two other persons were murdered in the same area in their homes on Friday night in the same manner.

“Two other young men were killed in the same fashion on Friday. The killers also scaled over the fence to get to the house before killing them,” Mr. Malla said.

Gideon Jibrin, the Borno Police Command’s spokesman, confirmed the killings.

He added that the police had already launched an investigation into the matter.
