Reports from Kaduna say a suicide bomber, believed to be a member of the extremist Boko Haram sect, has been blown to pieces by an explosive device he was ferrying to an undisclosed location for detonation.
An eyewitness, who gave his name as Salisu Chief, informed Premium Times that the incident occurred along the Eastern bye pass area of the city.
“The suicide bomber appeared like a mad man dressed in tattered dress and was seen carrying a carton, all of a sudden the carton exploded and tore him into pieces,” Mr. Chief said.
He also said the suicide bomber was the only casualty of the explosion, and security agencies are seen all over the place.
Our correspondent, who visited the scene shortly after the incident, corroborated Mr. Chief’s account.
He said the victim was blown to pieces, and that the police had cordoned off the area.
The explosive, he said, went off after the courier had walked past pockets of security checkpoints.
Several attempts to contact the spokesperson of the state police command, Aminu Lawan, for comments, were unsuccessful.
