Breaking News: Aliero, CPC, ACN governorship candidates in Kebbi decamp to PDP

Reports from Kebbi State say the former minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Adamu Aliero, who ran for a senate seat in the 2011 general election on the platform of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC); the gubernatorial candidate of the CPC, Abubakar Malam; and the gubernatorial candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in last April’s governorship election Kabiru Turaki (SAN),  have all defected to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

President Goodluck Jonathan is in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, to receive the decampees and also present the party’s flag to its gubernatorial candidate, the recently ousted governor of the state, Saidu Dakingari.

Mr. Dakingari was recently sacked by the Supreme Court which also ordered a fresh election billed for this Saturday.

The defection of the candidates of the main political parties means Mr. Dakingari would definitely reclaim his mandate unchallenged.

Sources in Birnin Kebbi told Premium Times that Vice President Namadi Sambo ‘encouraged’ the two opposition candidates to decamp to the ruling party with a promise to “settle” them adequately.

Mr. Aliero, a former governor of the state, was a member of the All Nigeria Peoples Party before defecting to the PDP close to the end of his tenure. He defected to the CPC after falling out with the ruling party.

Then who are now on the race against Dakingari? Really, PDP should feel ashame of itself for buying up position, and Opposition politicians in Kebbi State are disgrace to their followers!

  • Dauda

Is this democratic politics? Certainly NOT! I cry for Nigeria as the FRESH AIR promised Nigerians is now visibly polluted. This, to me, is just the beginning as the worst is yet to come

  • Tally

I don’t blame the PDP at all! this shows that they know what the are doing. CPC, ACN? if they are not yet politically strong, they should go and take lessons from the PDP!

  • Babatoks

See? No ideology; no sense of decency of conscience, all they want is money, power and wealth by all means. This is very typical of Nigeria’s own brand of politics. The genre of politicians we have, charlatans and rogues and vagabonds, most of them, and largely illiterate and half-educated, no pedigree, but all coming in there to fill their pockets up.
The people of this country are being run ragged and maimed and the wool pulled over our eyes, while these thieves are looting the treasury and not delivering the so-called dividends of democracy.
Ninety-nice percent of Nigerians will never see this so called dividends of democracy in their lifetime if we continue at this rate.

  • Umar Muktar

Nigerians it is time to raise up and say no to this criminals who have no conscious and are mentally sick. We need to stop it. Do you call this politics or madness.
