Claims by the Director General of the Nationals Sports Commission (NSC), Patrick Ekeji, that a mini sports center has been constructed in the Abeokuta South Local Government, South West Nigeria has been debunked by the Local Government, chairman, Duro Olawoyin.
According to Mr Olawoyin, it was surprising for him to receive a letter from the NSC that such a project has been constructed in his domain whereas there was nothing of the sort.
“No mini sports complex has been constructed in my Local Government, I have gone around again and there is nothing like that,” he said.
“It is coming to me as a big surprise because there is nothing like that here, if they are saying they want to come and build then that is okay but that they have completed one is not true”.
Mr. Ekeji during a budget defence session with the House committee on sport had listed Abeokuta South LG as one of the locations where mini sports center has been constructed across the country.Inspection exercise
Meanwhile the chairman of the House committee on sports, Godfrey Gaiya, has hinted that he and his committee members will soon embark on an inspection tour of the facilities the NSC DG claims are already constructed.
Mr. Gaiya added that a full-fledged probe will follow the inspection exercise as the House is keen to see that monies allocated to the NSC are judiciously spent.
