The North-east zonal chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Shuaibu Byal, has condemned Sunday’s attempt by members of the Church of Christ in Nigeria, COCIN, Buachi, to bomb their own church, describing the incident as a “sign of end times.”
Quoting the book of Mathew, Chapter 24, of the Holy Bible, which talks about the ‘destruction of the temple and signs before the end’, Mr. Byal, who is also the pastor in charge of Evangelical Church of West Africa, ECWA II Bauchi, says Christians should always preach the gospel of truth and peace.
“This incident is the manifestation of what Jesus Christ was referring to in Mathew 24 as signs of the end times. Christians should preach the truth, and not be sheep in wolves clothing” Mr. Byal said
The CAN leader, who confirmed that internal administrative problem among the church members led the suspects to attempt the dastardly act, advised faithful to learn from this incident an ensure that issues that arise within the church are settled amicably without recourse to violence.
Mr. Byal also told Premium Times CAN was in touch with security agencies on the matter and that the police had assured it “they are on top of the matter.”
He therefore advised the security agencies to ensure equity to all parties not just in prosecuting the suspects but ensuring that sanity returns to the Church concerned.
