The spokesperson of the Kano State Command of the Nigeria Police, Magaji Majiya, has confirmed to Premium Times that unknown gunmen riding on motorcycles opened fire on some police officers on patrol in Kano metropolis killing two of them instantly.
“Our officers on routine patrol were attacked by some gunmen riding on three motorcycles who opened fire on the officers.
“There was an exchange of fire but unfortunately two of our officers lost their lives, while two others who sustained gunshot wounds are receiving treatment at the hospital,” Mr. Majiya said
The spokesperson of the police also said the incident occurred along BUK road opposite the fire service station.
He further said officers from the command immediately cordoned off the area and fifteen persons have so far been arrested and are being interrogated.
Today’s attack is coming barely 24 hours after a gunbattle between soldiers of the Joint Task Force and members of Boko Haram sect at Mariri area of the state metropolis in which four members of the sect were apprehended by the soldiers.
