Update: Spokesperson of the National Emergency Management Agency, Yushau Shuaibu, has just informed Premium Times that two people have been confirmed dead in the building collapse at the Gwarinpa district of Abuja today.
“At 7pm today, NEMA and other stakeholders completed rescue operation at the site of collapsed building in Gwarinpa with retrieval of another dead body,” Mr. Shuaibu said. “Finally five victims were rescued alive, and two dead bodies were recovered.”

An unknown number of labourers are trapped under the rubble of a two-storey building which collapsed within Naval Quarters in the Gwarinpa Distrrict of Abuja this morning.
The labourers were said to be carrying out renovation on the building when it suddenly gave way, killing one instantly, and trapping many others.
Rescue workers, comprising officials of the National Emergency Management Agency, Federal Road Safety Commission and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp have arrived the scene and are drilling in search of survivors.
NEMA spokesperson, Yushau Shuaibu said one person had died while five others were rescued alive. He said operatives were combing the rubble with life locator to determine if other victims were still trapped.
