Several explosions have occured at a police station in Tafawa Balewa Local Government and some parts parts of Bauchi metropolis this morning.
Residents told Premium Times casualty figure is high and that about 10 people mostly police officers, including the divisional police officer, are feared dead.
Spokesperson of the state police command wouldn’t declined to speak on the incident, saying he would only comment after the commissioner of police had adressed a press conference at 1 p.m.
Another explosion was also reported near a catholic church at the railway area of Bauchi metropolis, but no casualty was recorded. A resident of the area who spoke to us said the blast occcured at about 3 a.m. and did not affect the mani building of the church,as only the fence was affected.
The attacks in Bauchi is coming just two days after a similar one in Kano in which over 150 people were said to have been killed. The extremist Boko Haram sect has claimed responsibilty for the Kano attack, but is yet to do so on the explosions in Bauchi as at press time.
The leader of the sect, Abubakar Shekau, had in a recent video message posted YouTube mentioned Tafawa Balewa town as one of the places in which muslims were attacked in the past.
