The Public Relations Officer of the Lagos Police Command, Jimoh Jinad, just confirmed the arrest of the Divisional Police Officer, Ogba Police Station, Segun Fabunmi.
The DPO was arrested for the death of a protester earlier today as Nigeria witnessed a nationwide protest against the removal of fuel subsidy.
According to the PRO, ”When the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Yakubu A. Alkali, heard of the incidence in Ogba this morning, he ordered the arrest of the DPO and he has since been arrested and handed over to the state Criminal Investigation Department Panti, Yaba, for thorough investigation.”
He declined to confirm whether the DPO was responsible for the shooting that killed protester Ademola Aderinde in Lagos today.
The Police officer shot into the crowd, killing a young man and wounding four others as the peaceful protest called by the Nigeria Labour Congress proceeded to Ojota from Ogba.
