The Enugu State Government has banned public assemblies, meetings or processions in any part of the state until further notice.
A statement issued and signed by Governor Sullivan Chime on Monday in Enugu said that such meetings could lead to a breakdown of law and order.
“It is, therefore expedient to prohibit the holding of any public assemblies, meetings or public procession,’’ he said.
The governor said the prohibition was in the exercise of the powers conferred on him by law and all other powers enabling him in that behalf.
“The holding of any public assemblies, meetings or public procession in Enugu State of Nigeria is hereby prohibited until further notice,” Mr. Chime.
