Lagos roads deserted as labour, civil society begin protest

The protest against fuel subsidy removal organized by  Labour and Civil Society groups has kicked off in Lagos.

Top officials of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and the Joint Action Front (JAF) are leading the march which began at the NLC secretariat.

Major roads and streets in the city are deserted as commercial buses as well as private car owners complied with the sit-at-home order.

Another group of civil society organizations converged at the Gani Fawehinmi Park, Ojota, to begin a protest.
