The Chairman of Gombe chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Abare Kalla, has condemned the killing of seven persons and injuring of 10 others by unidentified gunmen on Thursday at the Deeper Life Church in Gombe metropolis.
Mr. Kalla told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gombe on Friday that the attack was unprovoked.
“We are deeply aggrieved. For people to die in this manner right inside the church is very worrisome,” he said.
He urged Christians to be vigilant and make adequate arrangement for the security of their lives and property.
“We should all go back to God in prayers for His divine protection. Gombe is no longer peaceful. Already, we have some difficulties even in accessing land allocation to build churches. But we are not known to be trouble makers.”
NAN reports that on Dec. 30, 2011 unidentified gunmen had attacked the Tumfure Resort in the night and injured 15 persons.
On Jan. 4, another group of gunmen also killed two persons at the Jubilee Hotel, Sabon Layi area of Gombe metropolis.
