The Kano State House of Assembly sitting this afternoon (Tuesday) impeached its speaker, Yusuf Abdullahi Falgore (PDP- Rogo constituency) and immediately elected Gambo Sallau (PDP- Kiru) to replace him.
Some political commentators who spoke to Premium Times, on condition of anonymity so they do not anger the governor, said the change was long expected because the former speaker was not in the good books of the state governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, who they believe engineered the change of leadership in the house.
Ironically, the new speaker nominated the old speaker for the post when the Kano State House of Assembly was inaugurated after the last general election in April this year.
