Popular Nigerian comedian, Oluwaseyitan Aletile, aka Seyilaw, has apologised to his wife, Stacy, after he announced on Instagram that they were getting a divorce.

His post read, “Due to irreconcilable differences would have been enough to announce this, but the kind and beautiful heart of my ex-wife must be stated. She is one of the best women I have ever known.

“It is however sad, that I announce that my wife and I have decided to path (sic) ways for good. We will appreciate your love and support at this time. God bless you. Tiwaloluwa is safe and good,” he said on his Instagram post.

The 35-year-old comedian would later announce on Sunday that he pulled the divorce prank to create an online buzz for his European stand-up comedy show billed for April.

But the apology came a tad too late because he had already become the butt of jokes on Instagram.

The 35-year-old comedian, who apparently did not envisage the sort of reactions his post would garner, has also tendered an apology to his wife.

His apology read, “I need to apologise to my wife who found the joke highly embarrassing and way out of line. Thanks for bearing my excesses. You are beautiful, kind and definitely the best of your type. God bless you abundantly. I appreciate you always. May God never give us a reason to part ways but path many ways for the future generations to tread.”

He has also come under fire from his social media followers who have chided him for pulling such an expensive prank.

The dark-skinned comedian wedded his wife in 2011 and then they renewed their marital vows in 2017.
