All African Games Qualifiers: Nigeria U-23 team wins in Libreville

Despite playing away, the Nigeria U23 team, the Dream VI, on Saturday started their All African Games qualifiers on a winning note as they spanked their Gabonese counterparts 4-1 in Libreville.

The team, which is being handled by Coach Samson Siasia, made the quickest of start as Junior Ajayi scored in the very first minute before Warri Wolves FC striker, Etebo Oghenekaro, made it 2-0 for Nigeria from the penalty spot just before half time.

Ajayi, just like he did in the first half, was again quick to score in the second half as he made it 3-0 for Nigeria just after two minutes after the restart.

The Gabon team tried to halt the rout as they pulled one back through Axel Meye.

However, the Dream Team VI further confirmed their supremacy when Paul Onyekachi’s late strike saw that the game ended 1-4 in favour of Nigeria.

The Dream Team VI will be looking to complete the job they have started well during the return leg that will take place at the National Stadium, Abuja on Saturday, March 7.
