Niger State Government has declared Friday December 19 and Monday December 22 as work free days, to enable civil servants obtain the Permanent Voters Card, PVC.
This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in Minna by Israel Ebije, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Babangida Aliyu.
Mr.Aliyu, however, said that the holiday would not affect Federal Government workers and those in private establishments.
“Niger state government has decided to declare Friday 19 and Monday 22 December as work-free days.
“This is to enable civil servants who are yet to have their Permanent Voters Cards, the opportunity to do so ahead of the 2015 general election,” it said.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,would commence the issuance of PVC in the state from Friday, December 19 to Sunday, December 21.
The commission has also fixed Tuesday, December 23 to Saturday December 27 for the Continuous Voters Registration.
The government urged the civil servants to use the period to enlighten the general public on the significance of the exercise in relation to the success of the 2015 general election. (NAN)
