Ambode in clear lead at Lagos APC governorship primaries

Akinwunmi Ambode

Counting of delegates’ votes have begun at the Lagos All Progressives Congress, APC, primaries with Akinwunmi Ambode in a clear lead.

About 5,700 delegates from 20 local government areas cast their votes for the 13 candidates seeking the governorship ticket of the party.

Counting is currently ongoing at the venue. Of the almost 1,000 votes counted so far, Mr. Ambode has gotten more than half of the votes.

Femi Hamzat, Commissioner for Works, and Adeyemi Ikuforiji, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, trail a distant second and third place respectively.

The exercise has been peaceful so far, except for a few incidents of dispossession of people’s valuables outside the venue.

Mr. Ambode will win this election by over 70% of total votes, that’s for sure!
I’d be surprised if Femi Hamzat comes 2nd overall on this trend of 20% results.
My gut feeling is that Adeyemi Ikuforiji will instead likely come a distant second.

    • SPACTACUS

That distant second you’re giving to Ikuforiji will surely be a very diiiiiiistant second. He got disillusioned the day his colleagues in the house told him that they preferred Akinwunmi Ambode as a more experienced and better candidate that the opposition party cannot rubbish with questions about EFCC and other court and corruption cases like Ikuforji has.To worsen things, the other time last week he was on TVC phone in program,an innocent caller politely told him the answers he was giving to questions were too dull for a person seeking to be governor,so he got the message early enough

    My People,

    RAJI FASHOLA AND SUPO SHASORE

Haba! So, Raji Fashola’s funded candidate – Supo Shasore – is nowhere to be seen?
Supo Shasore is not coming first; he’s not coming second, he’s not coming third, not even fourth,
not even fifth. Yepa! With all the multi-million Naira color adverts he’d placed in all newspapers?
    This is a bad thing.

For an incumbent governor, Raji Fashola is a big disgrace to himself. He has come to the end
of the road. He got into public office by nepotism in the first place. And now, the hand of nepotism
that lifted him is set to bring him down. That’s the way the cookies crumble.

As it is, Raji Fashola has no political future to look forward to anymore. Even If APC wins
the presidential election in 2015, Raji Fashola will have no role to play because
Bola Tinubu will NEVER recommend Raji Fashola for a federal appointment.
That’s the sure price Raji Fashola will be made to pay for perceived treachery.

A corrupt tree cannot bring forth good fruit. For out of the heart proceed
evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, and,
blasphemies. The love of money is the root of all evil; which, while some
coveted after, they erred from faith and pierced themselves with sorrows.

Brethren, you shall not steal. Theft entails deceit; and in a heart where
the spirit of deceit is, there, the spirit of God cannot be.

For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own
soul? The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro
of those that seek death. There are thorns and snares on the path of the
crooked. Anyone who guards himself prudently will stay far from them.

    • SPACTACUS

Have you not heard of the adage that says that as you make your bed,so you lie on it? Supo Shasore’s bed of governorship ambition was hastily made, not out of genuine intention, but for the ulterior motive of conferring on Fashola the title of godfather,he wanted to become godfather overnight.Shasore NEVER intended to run at all,he did not even know how to go about it,in his blind quest for political dominance in Lagos, even Fashola forgot to establish a campaign office for his stooge Shasore and forgot to send him to the local government areas to consult with the grass roots delegates, who are the ones that did the actual voting,so I will be surprised if he gets up to a hundred votes really.

  • SPACTACUS

I am not surprised at the outcome of the election.Obviously Akinwunmi Ambode was the only aspirant that really worked hard

  • SPACTACUS

This is great news for Lagosians.Lagos is in for great, escalated and rapid development like never before.Ambode is a reformer and creative thinker,I therefore call on all the other remaining aspirants that lost out to rally behind Ambode as the party’s candidate so the consistent development Lagos has been witnessing in the last 16 years will not be upturned and truncated by Bode George and his people. After all, there can be only one party flag bearer at a time.God bless Lagos state

  • Alj Muyideen

I think the out come of the election is a fair reflection of what the aspirants put in per effort.Lagosians know that you worked very hard and you did not lose focus one day even in the face of unwarranted attcks from detractors. So the primaries have come and gone,it may not have been 100% perfect but it is better than what APC did in 2007 and 2011 to produce their governoship candidates. It can only get better so I hope the other aspirants that did not win today will
take the defeat with equanimity and philosophical calmness.Let them put in more effort next time, garbage in,garbage out

      @ Alj Muyideen,

Urhobo man say ‘instead make I born mumu, make I born thief’. Somehow, that statement makes sense.

I realized that it is better to give birth to a Tinubu than a Fashola. Oh what folly! I have always seen through
Raji Fashola. I have watched his decisions and utterances, and I have come to realize that this Raji Fashola
does not have the two round inhabitants of a scrotum.

Fashola, riding on his popularity and goodwill, would have been the one to choose his successor,
become vice presidential candidate, or at worst, senator. Now watch Fashola slide into the abyss
      of political infecundity.
