UPDATES:‎ Damaturu under heavy Boko Haram attack

Boko Haram

Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, is under heavy attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists who,  according to fleeing residents, may have surrounded the town.

Explosions and  gunshots are being heard in some parts of the Yobe State capital.

A resident of the city, Yaya Haruna, told PREMIUM TIMES the shooting started at about 6a.m.

“It is as if they have surrounded us all here; there is sound of explosion and serious shooting.  We are all lying down on the floor with our families. Please pray for our safety,  that we survive this… ”

“We are in serious confusion now,  we are just hearing gunshots and explosions on the southern part of the city and people are fleeing,” said another embattled resident,  Malam Abdulmalik.

The resident said he was woken by loud sounds of gunshots and explosions which started at about 6a.m.

An official of the SSS in Maiduguri, who usually does not want to be named in the  media, confirmed in a text message sent to our reporter that “Damaturu may be under attack now”.

Damaturu is 135 kilometres west of Maiduguri,  the Borno State capital.

All this attacks are suspicious. Is this all a grand plan to force people to accept the emergency rule extention? GEJ should leave us alone, WE DON’T WANT HIS EMERGENCY RULE! He should just allow the masses to protect themselves, we have lost hope in his leadership and military. He should also allow our hunters and civilian JTF do the needful instead of arresting some of them all in the name of screening, thereby allowing boko haram to regroup and restrategize! GEJ, leave the northeast alone, no matter what evil plan you do, you won’t get any vote from the North!!!!

    • warry

You should simply ask the BH to stop their attacks instead of looking for who to blame. Most of the people arrested are Fulani and Kanuri people,No Otueke person so far.Just tell them to stop please.

      • abdul

Khadija is right, the truth most be said, GEJ is behind all this attack. He is the father of boko haram and the sponsor. God will expose him and you shall leave to see the truth.

        • israel amulum

This problem is persisting not because of jonathan but because the northern leaders have been speaking from both sides of the

Israel Mumu indeed. You must be dead drunk.

          • Omo Oodua

And you must be dead silly!

          • Ahmad

You must be a slave boy. Pity you.

            Ebele all the way 2019

        • Ojukwu Chukwudi

Jonadadft is not only behind, but the chief sponsor.

        • elmok

With people like you reasoning like this ,why can’t boko haram thrive in their mayhem,so some can pay you to kill your people destroy your town because he has power in his hand very sorry for you

      • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

The same Otuoke man is arresting those who are trying to defend themselves!

Is is because no Otuoke man, woman or child is being slaughtered by boko haram?

        Please help me ask Jonothing.

        • Abah J

sometimes, I wonder how some of you people reason, are u saying that Jonathan will call members of boko haram and tell them where to attack and those northerners will just start attacking without questioning? knowing that this same north is for them?
I will like u to have a critical look at it.
have u also forgotten when this whole thing started, what were the likes of Adamu Ciruma saying? that this Jonathan u are accusing was killing their INNOCENT CHILDREN, today u people will not care to ask the so called northern elders why they allowed it to graduate to this stage?
u just don’t want to stand the fact that it is Jonathan that is the president, that’s why they are busy doing the dirty job for those northern elders

just come to terms with reality and lets us all join heads together and end terrorism from our land. God bless NIGERIA.

          • Peter

You can see where hatred for Jonathan has taken these e-miscreants like Kay Soyemi (Esq), Maria, Khadija D, Abdul, Favourtalk and their comrade in crime, Wahala. Jonathan is a just and peaceful man. He is fair and generous to all, including all the e-rats and their families. God is right now punishing them and their tribesmen for their wickedness, as the insurgents now kill and maim their own people. Nemesis is at work here. The perpetrators only knew the beginning of this war but don’t know when it will end. God save the north.

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Again, another PDP e-rat crawls out of the slimy drainage to pour verbiage onto assumed enemies.

Your man is a blood sucking, venomous monster that is totally devoid of any sense of compassion. The only thing worse than him are the mindless zombies like you and whatever-his-name above is.

Your prayer about God saving the North is hypocritical when your principality has decided to arrest the Northerners who have stoutly risen to defend themselves against the bloodlust of boko haram.

Why, if he not benefiting from the bloodshed?

“All these blood you are sharing…diarisgodooooo! Why? Why? Why?”

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

On the contrary, Mr. Abah J, it is people like you who fail to read and comprehend what they read that poses the greatest threat to civilisation.

Somewhere in your befuddled mind, you have misinterpreted my call to Jonothing to allow the Northerners, via the Hunters and Civilian JTF to defend themselves from extermination by boko haram as a call for Jonothing to carry arms and rescue them.

Mr. Jonothing and his Boys Scout Army have failed Nigerians woefully and cannot protect them from boko haram. So why start harassing these same set of people who wants nothing but the chance to live, unless their survival threatens Mr. Jonothing’s interests?

      • Bidemi Lukman

Since BH decides not to stop, tell Dumbo to allow the Hunters to defend thier poeple. I hope you are aware of the progress made by the Hunters recently when your brothers soldiers keep fleeing to Cameroun

        • Ha

He was sad about the development yet some of our brothers in the north are ready to vote for him again because they are animals. In his last visit to London he said he was happy with the war on terror because for the whole week no territory was captured by boko haram. This is a seating president saying this. He wished that towns would be captured every week. He was disappointed.

      • Ha

Really? What about many christians arrested trying to bomb their churches in the past before they become smarter now? What about Boko Haram members arrested at the Bayelsa Governor’s lodge in Lagos? Have you not read that? With power you can manipulate things. It could be very easy for the incumbent to use some of our own pple plus foreigners from Chad, Cameroun etc to implement his agenda. What about pple like Ihejirika or Modu Sheriff who suddenly became president’s confidant and enjoys military protection? We have rotten eggs as every tribe. Or do you think that the incumbent doesn’t have responsibility to stop it even if it is done 100% by our own pple?

        • Gaskiya

          You are very intelligent.

      • Wähala

The only doctor arrested for treating wounded BH fighters is from Bayelsa State… could be Otuoke!
The only Tuaregs arrested for terrorism were rounded up at the Bayelsa Govt. Guest House, Eko
Dead and unmasked Boko Haram fighters thus far are from the South-South…
Dumbo is using ex-militants to prosecute his evil political agenda of decimating the North East and cancel elections there. The human tragedy of it does not concern him because he is a psychopath, a callous leader and a very big danger to Nigeria’s corporate existence. Pal, evil has never triumphed over good. Certainly, the evil don in black fedora will fail like all evils who preceded him in Aso Rock… and you can take that to the bank!

        • emmanuel

Mallam, if i were you i would cry to my elders to stop the insurgency rather than accuse one man who has tried repairing the nation destroyed by your leaders in the past.

Make you continue to make mouth for there, you may not recognise your ramshackled village of mud and hay roof when you return. Boko Haram boys would have burnt it.

Your problem is South, South South, Bayelsa and Otuoke.

To date, the only Northern Leader we knew his village was Shagari (so surnamed), because we did not bother, but Otuoke has become your National anthem because a man from Otuoke was not supposed to rule Nigeria anyway.

Una go kill yourselves finish by the time the man go leave in 2019. yeye people.

          • Otile

Don’t let him foool you, he is not Fulani as he sounds, he is our Odua neighbor. You know they will lay down their lives for their Fulani masters.

    • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

      It is a shame!

I have such nice memories of Damaturu!!

Although, Sahelian in nature, it reminds me so much of the port of Bou Said in Tunisia (but without the sea and the blue and white houses).

If a “state capital” is easy prey for insurgents, the questions perforce is, “what is the role of government?”

      • Chris1408

Unfortunately there’s no functional government in Nigeria. GEJ administration is a failure in every aspect of government.

        • Otile

Functional government or not the North will self-destruct.

          • Chris1408

            You’re truly sick

      • Onike24

Kay, this has gone beyond the pale…..

        • Otile

          Utangirma Allah.

      • PROF

When this killings started ,it was targeted at minorities and
Christians in the north, then most nothernern muslims kept quiet
thinking their elite were fighting in their interest to get back power.
Now the chickens have long arrived and have started roasting.
        For the north ,
”This is Not the end of the beginning ,rather it is the beginning of the end ” – Winston Churchill,

        • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Prof., I hate to tell you this, but when the “Northern Chicken” has finished “roasting”, the “Southern goat” would be ready for “roasting” too.

I hope you would be ready then with all the oil you are rubbing on your body now.

I do not know why so many of you guys think once they get to River Niger or Benue that boko haram would just turn around and go ‘home’.

          • emmanuel

Mosaku, Kay, Maria, Onike we dey wait for them. When dem reach the Niger or Benue, then God has answered our prayers.

It would then become a full blown Civil war. If the Yorubas like, they can lazily cede Ibadan and Lagos to them, afterall you did Kwara and Kogi in the past. But SE and SS we don waka.

            LET THEM OVERSTEP THEIR BOUNDS!

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Emmanuel, do me the favour of visiting Igbobi Orthopaedic Hospital daily for just one week and come back to let us discuss war again.

It is nothing to glorify or revel in.

Even veterans and Military Generals do not crave war.

          • PROF

Why do think the northern sponsors have not taken the bombing down south, who is stoping them ? They cant stand the heat ! they will not be able to come down south, they have friends and intrests ,its all about the oil blocks ,not the alamjeri .Just think !

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Prof., if you believe what you wrote, then there is no point arguing any further about it.

But I can reassure you that still waters lie deep.

        • Abdallah

Ohh, Poor Prof. This laughter will one day turn against yourself

Abdallah , just go sell kebab or somthing .

        • Nwa Aba {Biafran}

is caliphate not better than sharia you asked for?
          what did you want?

          • Mr Igbo Sanity

Biafrans DO NOT need BLOOD MONEY FROM jonathan to run their Businesses WORLDWIDE.

            HERE ARE THE FACTS:

jonathan wants to depopulate the North East soley for election purposes…Rivers Gov. Chukwubuike Amaechi.

          • Nwa Aba {Biafran}

            Who is this Boko Haram?
which region and religion are they from?
wake up i don’t need Buhari to sponsor me to destroy my people and region. your problem is not how to tackle your BH only blaming GEJ for everything including your wives miscarriages.

    • MrFesh+Ifebuche+Paschal

It’s a shame people can lie to themselves and get likes for it.
Let there be no emergency rule!
Let’s see who is better for it.

    • the truth

i guess people are mesmerized by your pic which translates to likes, i hope u dont have bombs inside your gown. Because of late that has been your mo. Continue lying to yourself.

      • Khadijah D.

Only a pervert like you think like that! Look around you and see how people are suffering. Just ask yourself, is Nigeria better than 3yrs ago?

        • the truth

sure it is, apart from the insecurity your brothers planted to thwart this government. When they started bombing churches did your sultan make any comment, they slaughtered over 100 and greater envangelism your sultan did not make any comment, all the churches and christians killed did not bring any condemnation from your sultan, now the chicken has roosted and they have bombed a mosque, he is quick to action. Doesn’t that show you hypocrisy. I told you at punch and i thought u have learnt knowledge, but i was wrong. Stop pointing fingers and blaming someone else for your deficiencies, your are a nigerian if i guessed right, because you may be a chadian just as those boko haram members. Offer solutions and help to nation building, instead of always casting blames. According to the global index on terrorism, only 7% of islamic insurgency is ended by military might, the rest 93% are solved by negotiations(which includes dialogue) and local support in getting rid of the menace. When you have sympathetic elements like you who never condemn the act(boko haram), but find it pleasurable to condemn people. Look in the mirror and be true to yourself, where do we go from here, if your candidate buhari is sworn in, wont he still fight with the same military? At this point we need unity from nigerians, not ethnic zealots like you, i hope you have not been radicalized into taking bombs into your hijab, and how many virgins do you get khadijah if a woman blows herself up?

so in your pint size brain, jonathan just because of elections is killing his own people. Let me ask you a question. among yobe, adamawa and borno which state did jonathan not win in the 2011 election. So jonathan wants 40,000 votes to win a presidential election. Keep deluding yourself in propaganda, you have the blood of 40,000 people on your hand because you are supporting this radicals indirectly.

          • Khadijah D.

Bla bla bla…. Lame excuses as usual. Is the Sultan the President of Nigeria? Must he condemn? A situation whereby to date, Jona has not PERSONALLY say anything to condemn the attack of boko haram in Kano, the coward can only make the statement through a proxy! Haba! Such heartlessness and wickedness. This clearly shows he knows more.than he is admitting. Sooner or later, his.cup will full up and ICC awaits him! Devil

          • the truth

do u think this war on boko haram is just gej’s fight without responsibility to other components.? You must be dreaming. Stay there and continue wallowing in ignorance. So if you see your neighbor making bombs and you refuse to inform the appropriate authorities then it is jonathan’s fault, your imam is in the mosque preaching hate and radicalizing the youths you still blame jonathan. please u didn’t answer my question, how many virgins do women like you get for bombing others?

          • Khadijah D.

Someone just mentioned Henry Okah testimony in South African Court! At least we know who make the bombs. On the arms part, we also know who’s jet was used for that!

Terrorism and other forms of Islamic violence existed in your Islamic north before GEJ was born and it may not go in his next 100 generations…face facts, that your religion is anything but peaceful the world over !

          • Khadijah D.

Yea, quite agreed. As long as people like Pastor Oritsejafor, President Netanyahu, Goodluck Jonathan, Gen. Ihejirika….. Etc exist….

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Haba Hajjiya !! The people you blame are entirely innocent of the blood-bath in your region. The earlier you face facts ,the sooner you will be able to eradicate the menace !!

  • Ayelala

Eventually thing will get so bad that ethnic nationalities will take matters into their own hands. I for one know that the southwest will simply ignore jonathan’s authority and go it alone.bye bye nigeria, good night.

  • favourtalk

At least when he leaves by 2015, we will find a solution to our problem since he can’t settle the rugged problem of our dear nation. What a shame and regret that we voted GEJ to the nation. We need a change for the sake of ordinary citizens of nigeria

  • MrFesh+Ifebuche+Paschal

As long as the north keeps passing buck of blame around looking for who to point fingers at, this will continue. The government is only effective if it works with the people. And some sup[supposedly sane people are saying that GEJ is behind it. They do not even realize the stup1d1ty in their utterance cos of how much hate and dislike has infested their mind.

In all terrorism and terrorist troubled areas, the way has always been to team up with the government and fight these people who are obviously internal aggressors: Afghanistan, Pakistan, India everywhere. It is in Nigeria that you see people demonizing the same government and forces that they are looking up to for hope.

God rest the innocent dead and give fortitude and wisdom to the troops and all trying their best to tame this monster. Let the blamers keep their work on if they like.

  • Eddy

Is Jonathan a jihadist? Why can’t we tell ourselves the truth? If we as a people undermine the leadership, jihadist groups like Boko na ram will size the opportunity to embolden their followers in order to perpetuate atrocities all over the country. Muslim and northern youths should pick up arms and chase out Boko na ram, instead crying and abusing GEJ.

    • Grace

      Tell them bro!

    • Gaskiya

How about you?? If youth take arms to fight then there is no need for Jonathan to preside over Nigeria. He can as well leave his office.

  • Ette

Government killing NIGERIANS as a means of remaining in power. What a wicked government killing Nigerians to force emergency rule and cancel elections so they can remain in power. May the blood of Nigerians shed by this government be upon their heads and may God treat them the way they are treating Nigerians. Amen.

  • Spoken word

Looks like GEJ has given up on the country and only cares about his personal protection.

I wrote elsewhere that our history is based on oral tradition,it is so because the black man loves to manipulate stories to his advantage, the Chinese on the other hand have a saying that the faintest ink is mightier than the longest sentence, this shows the sharp contrast between the two cultures, for people of African decent that do not remember history as it is but prefer the distorted version as it would serve their purpose, what is happening in the Northern parts of Nigeria today is described as chicken coming home to roost. For decades, they celebrated the religious pogroms against the IGBO,the government never cared to prosecute anyone for killings in the name of religion because the IGBO are public enemy, all governments are guilty of that mortal crime and we all know that when injustice is repeated constantly,it become a norm so he who brings in an ant infested faggot should not be surprised at the visit of lizards, now the lizards are swarming all over the place

    • Peter Perceival

Please go and read your history properly and find out what led to the slaughter of Igbos in the north. You conveniently avoid stating what led to it. Maybe you were too young to know and your Igbo fathers told you a half-story. Go and read how the Igbos not only killed the northern and western leaders in the Jan-1966 coup, leaving their own (Igbo) leaders alive, but also started to mock the northerners in newspaper cartoons and posters. Learn the truth – not the jaundiced story you were told.

      • Abdallah

You were right my friend, he not but just a half baked historian capable of only remembering what his poor selfish grandfather told him.

        • Otile

Whatever happens Northern blood suckers will self-destruct.

      • Rommel

In the hindsight, was the 1966 coup IGBO inspired? and after the northern massacres of 1966 what has been happening? how many people have been prosecuted for Islam inspired bloodbath?

        • Peter Perceival

My friend, stay focused – Don’t digress from the issue YOU raised. The 15Jan1966 coup was by Igbo’s. Only one of the 8 coupists was non-Igbo (Wale Ademoyega). Granted that there were reasons to be dissatisfied with the political situation at that time, those coupists were either politically naive or they were simply sectionalistic. How could a bunch of 7 Igbo army officers execute a coup to take out the political leaders in the country, kill leaders from all other regions and leave their own leaders, and then enthrone their own man (Aguyi-Ironsi) as the country’s leader? They did not stop there, they started to mock the northerners in the media. I am sure your Igbo fathers did not tell you this bit of the story. That kind of situation would lead to bloodbath anywhere in the world. Read how World War 1 started and you would understand. Stop sowing seeds of discord by always raising the Igbo massacre issue. The country has moved on. Let’s focus on making it better.

          • Ikechukwu_67

Because of what 7 officers of Igbo extraction and 1 officer of yoruba extraction did in 1966 coup, over 2 million Igbos had to be slaughtered abi? So the fact that IBB cancelled an election that a yoruba man won in 1993 thereby setting nigeria on fire should have led to the killings of northerners in the west in the same vein I could also argue.

If there is no restitution to those millions killed about 50 years ago then there can never be peace in Nigeria. Spin anyhow you like, twist it anyway you want. The fact still remains that what happened was a genocide. It would not go away. You can’t move forward when 2 million people were just massacred and you want it trivialise. ..

          • Peter Perceival

Unfortunately, that is how wars start, leading to the killing of millions. The assassination of ONE man – Archduke Francis Ferdinand at Sarajevo in 1914 was what started World War 1. So who will make restitution for the millions that died in WW1 because only one man was killed? The lesson is this – if you don’t want war, don’t do things that could start one. Yes, IBB canceling a free and fair election of a Yoruba man could have led to another war in Nigeria, but thank God it didn’t. Actually, I would say that it is a testimony to the peacefulness of Yoruba people. In Nigeria’s political history, Yorubas have never attacked other tribes en masse. The 1965 polgrom was Yorubas vs Yorubas – I knew it well then because my father narrowly escaped being burnt alive. Unfortnately, and sadly, Hausa-Fulani people have a short fuse. I have lived with them and I am amazed at how easily they resort to bloodshed without batting an eye. My friend, if you started a war and you eventually lose millions of your own people as a result, no one owes you any restitution. If you want to secede, that’s fine.

          • Ikechukwu_67

Killing unarmed igbo civilians in the north couldn’t be excused by any standard my brother. Gathering women and children and murdering them like chickens can never be explained by any rational thought I can tell you.Going house to house and fishing out civilians in your area and killing them has no bearing I can tell you. If you could excuse killing 2 million civilians as a consequence of the coup of 1966 then I don’t really know what to say anymore.

What happened to the Igbos in the north was genocide. It has no other name than that. It would not go away without any form of restitution because it’s never done…The only way forward is to acknowledge this fact.

          • Peter Perceival

I fully agree that the killing of Igbos in the north was genocide and should never have happened, notwithstanding the provocation. But don’t lump it with the subsequent war which was in fact declared by Ojukwu, and not a matter of gathering civilians and slaughtering them. We should avoid distorting history just because we want to make a point.

          • Otile

You are very callous indeed, no human feeling for your fellow Africans. Don’t mind Yorubaland will not escape the next war and we shall see how you feel if you come out alive. Although you are now writing from London but when the time comes your loved ones in Osun will narrate to you the reality at home. May what happened to Igbo people in 1922,1945, 1953, 1966-70 happen to Yorubas. Amen.

          • paul eneke

My friend, will you stop that! Are you aware of the numbers of our people that reside and do good business in Lagos and Ibadan alone? What are you saying,am an Ibo man of Abia extract and i ave lived in Lagos all my life, all what you are saying belong to the past.Let me tell you, people that are doing well in life dont pray for distortion/war,only looser do that. Its appears you are not doing so well. Please,go and work hard and make money like a typical ibo man and stop acting ethic champion here. The Yoruba man has spoken well,he seems to be well traveled.

          • Peter Perceival

By the way, let me straighten out the distorted history you were fed with: 2 million Igbos were not massacred in the north. Thousands were massacred in the north – and that was bad, really bad. Then about 1 million died in the ensuing war between July 1967 and January 1970. That war was a war where both sides were fighting. ‘Biafra’ had the support of Western countries, especially UK while Nigeria had USSR support. I recall being coached in my secondary school how to recognise the Biafran B52 bombers – and they did bomb Lokoja. Eventually, starvation ended the war. More Igbos died of starvation during the war than from the bullets. Because you lose a war, do you now declare it genocide? Genocide is when you slaughter defenseless people, not when one side loses a real war.

          • Otile

Yeah …the country has moved on and forgotten. As the stabber you have forgotten but the stabbed will never forget because the scar is always steering him in the face.

      • Otile

What led the slaughter of Igbo in 1945,1953?

        • Peter Perceival

Otile, you can tell us what you were told about those years. We have people who sour the present (thereby holding back progress) with the past – usually a distorted past. Generations have distorted history, telling the part that hurt them without saying the part they themselves played in the tragedies. So when you tell us what led to the purported slaughter of Igbos in 1945 and 1953, please tell us the full story – not a distorted one.

          • Otile

You know, the one who stabs may forget but the stabbed will never forget.

      • Rommel

What was I said about Africans preferring oral tradition to written ones? can you see now how you have distorted the history of Nigeria, when will this IGBO PHOBIA stop ,each time you pour out hatred against the people from the land of the rising sun,you confirm the invincibility of the people,do you want the IGBO to change because of you? at least of all the crimes that the IGBO are accused of,nobody in right senses can accuse the IGBO of looting the national treasury,of all the crimes the IGBO are accused of, all are crimes of survival, reactions to imposed hardships but the IGBO are not the cause of Nigeria’s woes rather, the hatred of the IGBO is the reason why Nigeria is the way it is so grow up and read books written by people who are not biased.

        • Peter Perceival

My dear Rommel, it would be good to stay focused on the subject at hand and not keep jumping to different issues on each posting. You raised the issue of the supposed massacre of 2 million Igbos in the north. Stay on that topic. You can start another thread on looting of the treasury and all that.

Can you tell me what is untrue in what I said? I was old enough to know how the war started – so I do not rely on oral tradition at all!

And what gives you the idea of “Igbo Phobia”? The fact is that the Igbos are their own enemies. I am Yoruba. My daughter is married to a good young Igbo man, and I have no regrets whatsoever. My own brother is married to a lady from Anambra State, and they are happy together. So what is all this poisoning of the system with talks of “Igbo Phobia”? By the way, when you look back to the Nigerian politics from 1979, how do you explain the fact that Igbos have always voted for the northerners who supposedly massacred them? Chuba Okadigbo was the loudest image-maker of Shehu Shagari!

          • Rommel

The Hausa Fulani could never have done anything to the IGBO without the treachery of the Yoruba, the IGBO today are not afraid of the Hausa Fulani or anyone hence you see the IGBO everywhere there is money to be made,we both know our boundaries but the problem is with the Yoruba, who are you people? and what is your stand? half Muslims, quarter Christians and quarter animists, even enemies respect each other but no one loves traitors,

          • Peter Perceival

I give up on you as you seem to be a tribal champion. I have no interest in a tribal diatribe. Here you are castigating one tribe as ‘traitors’. Meanwhile, your tribe and that tribe intermarry without problems. As a matter of fact, I have observed that Yoruba/Igbo intermarriages tend to endure. I advise you to grow up and get out of divisive tribal sentiments. We don’t need such in this generation. If the older generation did things that divided the country, we don’t have to be held hostage by them!

Just imagine how this conversation has drifted from the problem of BH anarchists into a tribal argument! Quite sad that we seem to see every issue through tribal glasses and steer every discussion in that direction! Quite sad!

          • Rommel

Are there no Jews married to Arabs? marriage my friend is a different ball game, the first and second girlfriends I ever had in this world were of Yoruba extraction,I was never able to maintain such relationships with girls from my own extraction so those are different things. What we are talking about is deeper than marriage, ethnic suspicion is more potent and requires working on to make cordial, can you get the Arabs to accept the Jews but Egypt Israeli peace accord is holding albeit cold peace? two captains can never be in a boat, the relationship between Hausa Fulani and IGBO are different from the one existing the IGBO and Yoruba or don’t you agree? you asked my why the IGBO voted for Hausa Fulani and cited examples of Shagari time and I gave you reasons, why then are you calling me ethnic bigot, did you not ask for the truth?

          • Peter Perceival

Actually, marriage is not all that different. I have seen men with your kind of mindset who have refused their daughters marrying men from other tribes just because of the tribal bias. I am a marriage counselor and I have counseled women who whose parents disallowed them marrying their true love, on tribal grounds, and who were eventually coerced into marrying men of their own tribe, starting a life of misery. I don’t know if you have daughters of marriageable age. With your kind of mindset, you are not likely to approve of your daughter marrying a Yoruba.

          • Rommel

I am perfectly a decent, knowledgeable and fine gentleman I can assure you, that you are unable to identify who is who from writing gives you out as a poor judge of character which makes me to wonder your expertise as a marriage counselor, probably like those Pentecostals who have destroyed Nigeria with unrealistic expectations in that country of ours,Like I said, tribal suspicions are more potent than mundane things like marriage which can be dissolved at will based on flimsy things like childlessness and loss of interest, marriage is a social union, humans can exist perfectly without it,it is just for social cohesion, tribes on the other hand defines your very DNA so don’t ever compare the two.

          • concernedcitizen2014

            you are confused

          • Rommel

would it be possible for you to keep to the issue without sounding comical? danke!

          • Peter Perceival

I agree with the commentator who said you are confused. So all the massacres of Igbos in the north in the last 20 years – in Kano, Jos and Maiduguri – have been the handiwork of Yorubas or with the connivance of Yorubas? Amazing thinking! Meanwhile, how come the Igbo traders in Lagos, Ibadan, Ilorin, etc. have never been attacked by the Yorubas?

          • Rommel

The modus operandi is definitely different but the intention is same, that the Hausa Fulani has a genetic disposition to violence does not make treachery of the Yoruba different, every tribe has its ways, pogrom on the IGBO had its origin in the northern parts but the south west were the beneficiaries of that infamous episode in our history and the beginning of the decay of Nigeria

    • Abdallah

Ohh!! what a tribalist or regionalist. Reserve your laughter frnd

    • Otile

      God bless you. Utangirma Allah

    • Dr.Dan

I’m sure who ever told you your history never mention that your Igbo officers driven by greed staged a bloody coup killing Northerners Westerners and other Minority tribe paving the way for Your Igbo brother Aguyi Ironsi to become the Ist Military Head of State. He never mention to you that the Centralized gov’t we have today was instituted by your brother Aguyi Ironsi so he could sit in Lagos, control and dominate others. Please go back to your history you will know that mess we are in today was brought upon us by your brothers.

      • Rommel

Like I said,Africans prefer oral tradition to written ones so that they can manipulate the stories for their own selfish interests and you are proving me right

        • Bambam

What Dr. Dan said is well written in Nigerian history..its no oral tradition..go back to your history and learn it properly..Ibos via Aguiyi Ironsi brought upon Nigeria this Unitary government we practice till date to checkmate the Hausa/Fulanis and the Hausa/Fulanis countered through a coup..fought a war and have won the game and are checkmating the Ibos..check Nigeria’s written history..stop propagating your manipulated oral stories..so typical of an Ibo man!!

          • Rommel

I am sure that what you read is from some distorted mind that has IGBO PHOBIA

          • Bambam

Typical evasiveness and retreating to a siege mentality of an Ibo man..you’ve not addressed any of the issues raised!!

          • Rommel

when you get your facts right,I will engage you

          • Bambam

You are a big dunce..I won’t have expected any better from a dunce like you..the day you want to ever learn why Ibos are being slaughtered in the North you can come back to me and I would break it down as carefully as I can for a dummy like you!!

          • Rommel

is that all you got? insults, poor you

          • Bambam

When you are ready to learn your history let me know..I would be happy to teach you..till then keep obfuscating the issue..nice try!!

Very Good. Is this also the manifesto of muslims in Dubai, Qatar, Malaysia, Indonesia, Morocco, Senegal, Gambia, Turkey, Bosnia Herzegovina, muslims in the South West of Nigeria and other peace loving countries. Let us focus on the South West of Nigeria. Almost every christian denomination has a head quarters somewhere in the South West of Nigeria. Churches are springing up from Surulere to Badagry, from Ikorodu to Egbeda. From Ede to Ekitipupa, from Ibadan to Ilorin. You can start a crusade/evangelism outreach or missionary initative anywhere and at anytime. You can use loudspeaker to preach deliberately in front of a mosque. Every average Yoruba family has a cousin, in law, brother, sister, uncle, aunty, or distant relation that is a Muslim. It has been like this for hundreds of Years. Islam came some argue to the South West even before it got to the Sokoto Caliphate, or the Kanuri Empire. The Mali, Songhai Kingdom very probably trading with the Yorubas and influenced some of them. . Check this Yoruba proverb “ona kan o wo o ja” – no be only one road they enter market. I wish other ethnic groups can learn from this. We have to learn to live with one another.

This is the Nigeria GEJ is the president and wants to come back for another term. GEJ and anyone clamoring for his reelection are insulting Nigerians. When will NASS do the right thing and impeach this Otuoke man.

There are reports that the Nigerian Army has retaken Damaturu. Thisday is also reporting that 100 Boko Haram militias
invaded the town. If that is true, Boko Haram was on a suicide mission today. How could 100 militiamen conquer Damaturu?

    • Tim Turner

they destroyed a police station and took all the weapons and further discredited the support for the government…not to mention the islamists don’t care if they die

  • Otile

No wonder Buhari and the whole APC party are bragging confidently. They know that they got the fire power to overrun and take any sharia town they want. All they have to do is to send signal to their boys and girls, the girls will do the initial suicide bombing then the boys will move in to rout the Federal troops. There may not be elections in the 12 sharia states because by then Imam Shekau would have liberated the places, finally they will invite Imam Buhari to come down to Bornu to take his seat.

    • concernedcitizen2014

      you are so confused.
