Nigerian govt, Boko Haram meet over release of abducted Chibok Girls

The missing Chibok schoolgirls held captive by Boko Haram

The Nigerian government and the extremist Boko Haram sect have begun fresh negotiation over the release of the more than 200 girls abducted by the sect from their school dormitories in Chibok, Borno state, six months ago, the Voice of America is reporting.

The report said the talks are also aimed at hammering out a cease-fire deal between Nigerian security forces and Boko Haram.

The VOA quoted an unnamed adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan and Danladi Ahmadu, a man calling himself the secretary-general of Boko Haram, as saying  the talks were going on in Saudi Arabia, “aided by high level officials from Chad and Cameroon”.

Mr. Ahmadu, reportedly said the girls are “in good condition and unharmed.”

He would however “not elaborate on the conditions under which the girls would be freed.

The Saudi Arabian government is not involved in the negotiations, the VOA said.

Nigeria’s Channels TV later reported the Principal Private Secretary to the President, Hassan Tukur, as confirming the negotiation.

Mr. Tukur, said to have spoken with the Voice of America Hausa service, was quoted as saying the Nigerian government “met with Chadian Government officials as well as representatives of the Boko Haram sect in N’Djamena, Chad, in an effort to secure the release of the 219 Chibok girls abducted by Boko Haram”.

The report said “a cease-fire has been achieved while other areas that were discussed are the location and health condition of the girls, those they want to swap with the girls, where Shekau is and more”.

Channels TV says the meeting will continue next week.

More to come…

Our communities – Bazza, michika, Shuwa, Kirchinga, Gulak, Madagali, Kwambula, Bakin Dutse are to this moment under the full control of Boko Haram. All male folks and young women have flee from all these communities mentioned above. As of last week, BH have started persecuting the elderly Christian women to forcefully converting them into islam and those that refused were being killed. If this is the dividends of democracy, then to hell with democracy. Mr. President, what are you and your security chiefs doing about these communities in Adamawa state that have been invaded by BH please?.

    • Dankwa

Propaganda. Go back and tell all your “male folks” in your communities that real men fight for their ancestral land from external forces and need not “flee from these communities.” Beware of being a secret admirer of Boko Haram. You cannot eat you cake and have it.

    • Shehu Monguno

I can see you are listing communities. About the other community I cant say, but Bazza and Michika where my wife’s parents come from is no longer under the the control of Boko Haram

      • Otile

Why not go there to visit your in-laws? Joe is right, Imam Shekau has taken these places for good.

        • Shehu Monguno

Visit, my wife is in Michika at the moment. Maybe I have sold her to Boko Haram

    Chadian officials ba?
Modu Sheriff must have reached out to his Chadian pals thru which the Bokos are being called to order on time for Dumbo to claim credit for his re-election fantasies… who says Alhj. Lai is not a genius? Must have been following my comments diligently. Obama’s meeting with Dumbo and his Cameroonian counterpart must have been where the chips were laid bare shortly after the arms deal went awry in South Africa that has effectively choked-off arms flow to the insurgents. The game is up, no wonder Cameroon recently welcomed home their kidnap victims, Nigeria deserves same for our youngsters. Dumbo and his PDP gangsters are behind the kidnappings and must face the ICC for multiple crimes against humanity… it is not enough to release the girls and say, ‘shikena, see, I told you we will get them back hale & hearty’. Sha, keeping my fingers crossed and my chaplet soaked in Holy Water… wallahi, ma’sha Allah, the girls will return home healthy or not, but alive!

    • Otile

Yeah, keeping your fingers crossed and your chaplet soaked in Holy Water… so you are still saying: never praise your dick until you hold a woman’s laps fast in your hands.

  • the truth

This is good news. As long as the girls are in good condition.

  • Biseni

Cease fire my foot, can a dead man fight? Talk less of cease fire. Boko haram politics.

    Jonathan is the
real face of boko haram. Jonathan, Sheriff, Omokiri, bling-bling Pastor (Ayo) are
the real masquerades behind all this killings! One day you will all go to jail
for the crime you committed against humanity. God is watching you.

What set of people are there in this government whose ways are very wicked and twisted. The bring back our girls group went to see Aso rock to see the lord on this issue yesterday and they refused only to blow this propaganda today. Girls are in good condition indeed when we have been told that some are no longer and some have been married out. How can they be in good condition while staying in the forest for six month. You refused to negotiate for the release of the girls when well meaning Nigerians were pleading at the time boko haram raised the kite and you are doing that after six months. May God treat the people in government the way they are treating Nigerians. Amen.

Jonathan government knows every thing about the chibok girl.
