Tinubu returns, says he was never ill

Former Lagos governor, Bola Tinubu

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, on Thursday denied being sick during his travels abroad and said he was seeking God’s forgiveness for those who carried stories of his alleged illness.

The opposition leader stated this at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, on his return back to the country after vacationing abroad for weeks.

He also said news of his failing health were false and without foundation.

“I’m as fit as a fiddle,” he said. “There was nothing wrong before I left the country. We had the Osun gubernatorial election and I’d planned a long vacation and some other research assignments in the political arena. It was to learn from people who had experienced the development of opposition parties in the past.”

On why he kept his location and activities off the radar, Mr. Tinubu said, “I don’t have to disclose to people my vacation location. But it was very shocking and sad that there were speculations about my health. This a sign of the lack of trust people have for leadership in the country.

“When I had the knee problem, I disclosed to Nigerians that I was going for a knee surgery and I came back. Even then, they started peddling rumours. I don’t know whether some people deliberately insinuate that I have a medical problem. It seems like a deliberate falsehood to me. It is all lies. There was no day that I had the need for even Panadol since I left this country for this trip. I was very busy, reading and talking to people of great intelligence that I believe I could gain from politically.”

To those who peddled the false news of his illness, the former governor said, “May God Almighty forgive them for they don’t know what they are doing. And I wish them all they wish for me.”

Asked his opinion of the current happenings in the country, Mr. Tinubu said he aligns with his party’s position and added that Nigerians were clearly tired of the antics and failures of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“The entire nation has lost its trust in the ruling party. It is a challenging time and we have to be very careful. The APC has all the ingredients to save Nigeria and we shall save our dear country,” he said.

Yes oo he wil always be fit because his people are praying for him and also suddenly behind him.

      • Otile

Get real, he will not always be fit as you say. One day Satan will call him home.

        • Patrick Ebeleike

You are funny but he is not that bad, all he has to do is to repent and start doing good by his people and not trying to control everything. Who gave you that name anyway? I am sure you know what it means.

          • solomonlas

            half dead man he is

          • Otile

There is no such thing as half dead. You are either dead or living. Is that why you people bury a sick man alive?

      • Usman

        that is it

  • Dr. Kay

To the PDP the fear of Tinubu is becoming pathological and you can see it in their malicious rumour spreading that he’s on his last leg as if they are the almighty God .Also you can see the palpable fear Tinubu invokes on these janjaweed party hacks that no day goes by without redeem or is it Deri talking about him. His obsession with him is now becoming like a voyeur.

    • change 2014-2015

The jagaban is back pdp are scared

    • Otile

Are you saying that Ebola Tinubu is immortal?

  • Wähala

Sen. Tinubu is hale and hearty, it is transparent unlike those others who sneak out for medicals without addressing anybody at the Airport (like Tinubu did) when they return. Either way, Tinubu’s health is not a national problem, it’s personal and his privacy to guide if so chosen, those wishing him death are evil and malicious. Alhaji Tinubu’s cough is like an earthquake has rattled the Presidency, they’re the ones making him out to iconic myth which Ogbeni Bola hardly qualifies for. Going by their Propaganda Manager, @Deri’s hypertension on news about Tinubu, there’s no doubt they drink their morning tea at the Villa looking for ‘Tinubu News’ and @Wähala’s comment to decipher and digest with a heartburn. Me-ma, whether Tinubu dey like Dele Giwa, dat na im bizness… Höly Wähala dey like Baba Iyabo: Kampe!

  • Gbo_lee

Jagaban…the hope of the common masses and the chief of political opposition. The Pdp should better worry about their problems and stop looking for Asiwaju

    • change 2014-2015

Don’t mind them they are afraid of Tinubu they know that he is a threat to them but all I know is that anything pdp wish him Tinubu will always stand string and fit because he is the true progressive we all love especially me.

      • solomonlas

afraid of half dead man you are cursed

The PDP is mortally afraid of Tinubu and regularly wishes him ill or even dead. Shame on them! This man is the main reason Nigeria has not become a one-party state and, of course, no one expects a party that had planned to rule for 60 (or is it 100) years to like him.

Whatever happens, I pray that God keeps alive both Tinubu and his political enemies – as well as all of us – so we can see the genuine transformation of Nigeria under another party apart from the PDP, which mistakes transmogrification for transformation!

“…and I’d planned a long vacation and some other research assignments in the political arena. It was to learn from people who had experienced the development of opposition parties in the past”

    Truly progressive.

  • Thompson |Ighalo

Welcome back Tinubu but you stayed quite long, it is as if the enjoyment was too much

  • Garden-City Boy

There is no smoke without a fire. Insiders know that there is quite a bit going on, Mr. Tinubu. Benjamin Adekunle’s deteriorating health was in the rumor mill for more than 3 years. What do we have today? POOM….dead ….brave and patriotic butcher. Don’t you wish it way as your voodoo-JANJAWEED APC cult would do. Or is the Ashiwaju afraid to answer the call of ancestors to account for his “good, patriotic and gallant” works?

  • Ahoy Seadog

“The soul of the APC is lost. It cannot be touched or seen.

Some people want to pocket the party and that is why its constitution
is yet to see the light of day. The APC make-up itself is political fraud.”

“There is no management at any level of APC. We cannot see ourselves
belonging to a platform where we are to be in the pocket of others.!

“After six months, there is still no APC structure found anywhere. We cannot
belong to such a party where a caricature of management is all there is.
We challenge the leadership of APC to tell us why the Constitution and
manifestos of the party are not found on the streets of Nigeria.”

Another name for Nigerians and their leaders is ‘lying’ Samples : Yar’adua was dying we were told he was fit and doing exercise; mama was sick and flown to Germany , we were told she went for vacation, age declaration has made greying civil servants younger than their children; Nigerian rescue workers at synagogue were telling us 63 dead till South Africa saw through the lie and forced President Zuma to reveal 67 number and quick quick our figure jumped to 83!
