The South-South Zonal Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Joe Onyewelu, has said that the party will re-capture Rivers and Edo in the 2015 general elections.
Mr. Onyewelu said this at the PDP National Chairman’s Tour of the South- South Zone in Calabar on Tuesday.
He said the two South-South states of Edo and Rivers currently governed by the All Progressives Congress, APC, would return to the PDP in 2015.
According to him, the APC is only occupying Rivers and Edo Government Houses on a temporary basis and will be taken over by the PDP in 2015.
“The South-South zone is in total support of President Goodluck Jonathan’s transformation leadership; this has been made clear in stability, rule of law and infrastructure development,” he said. “The commitment of the South-South governors to our great party is very strong, and we must make sure that Goodluck is re-elected in 2015.”
He commended the National Chairman of PDP, Adamu Muazu, for bringing sanity to the party.
Mr. Onyewelu said that the good fortunes of the party had been duplicated and restored since the national chairman assumed office.
He also declared support for President Jonathan’s second term and charged the national chairman of the party to ensure that Mr. Jonathan was re-elected in 2015
The Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, said PDP was still in charge of politics in Rivers State.
Mr. Wike said the good people of Rivers were working tirelessly to ensure the victory of President Jonathan in 2015.
“PDP in Rivers State is standing on a fertile ground, and come 2015, PDP will produce the next governor of the state.
“We are standing firmly behind Goodluck; he is the son of the South-South, and we must give him the necessary support to move this great country forward.
Onofiok Luke, member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, on behalf of youth in South-South, commended Mr. Muazu for bringing sanity to the party.
“Youths in South-South zone are in strong support of PDP and President Jonathan’s administration,” he said.
