The lawmaker says nobody is perfect.
A member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Othman Bala (APC, Keffi-east), has appealed to his colleagues to rescind their decision to impeach Governor Umaru Al-Makura in the interest of the state.
Speaking to journalists on Friday in Lafia, Mr. Bala urged his colleagues to forgive Mr. Al-Makura if he had wronged them.
Mr. Bala said that nobody was perfect in life and called on his colleagues to consider the many security challenges facing the country.
“The lawmakers love the state and would do all within their power to ensure peace and the development of the people. It is on the basis of that love that I appeal to my colleagues to sheath their swords in order to move the state forward.
“No one is perfect; we should forgive some of the lapses of the governor with the belief that he would learn from them in the overall interest of the state,” Mr. Bala said.
He emphasised the need for the lawmakers to make sacrifices.
“There should be no winner or loser under the circumstance but the interest of the state should be paramount,” he said.
The state assembly on Monday resolved to serve the governor an impeachment notice for alleged gross misconduct.
The news of the impeachment notice, however, led to protests across the state with that of Lafia recording some casualties.
Mr. Al-Makura is a member of the APC while majority of the state lawmakers are members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
