Osun Governorship Election: Omisore accepts open debate with Aregbesola

Mr. Omisore, PDP, declaring his intention to run for governorship of Osun state recently

The PDP governorship candidate in Osun, Iyiola Omisore, has accepted the challenge to an open debate with Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the All Progressives Congress.

The acceptance is contained in a statement circulated to journalists in Osogbo on Tuesday by Diran Odeyemi, Mr. Omisore’s Director of Media Affairs.

Governor Aregbesola, the APC candidate in the August 9 election, had thrown the challenge at the inauguration of Ayegbaju International Market on Tuesday in Osogbo.

However, the statement said the governor must ensure that security prevailed for
the debate to take place.

“Assurance of safety, among other things, would make Omisore to attend the debate,” the statement said.

“When an argument is being made between two different parties for instance, it may result in physical assault and harassment.

“The senator is a complete gentleman and a holder of Ph.D. So, we need an assurance that there will be no physical assault on him,” the statement added.

The stage is finally set for the first round of defeat for the PDP. Let the game begin!! Those with a clear conscience need not be afraid, people result to violence when they runout of logic. Omisore! You are the aggressor here, please no violence .

  • Kaizen_Darl

The stage is set. What will Omisore talk about. I can’t wait to hear about his manifesto, or what he has done as senator for his district. Osun people open your ears, discern lies from the truths. Aregbesola has been working and will continue, come November 14th

  • TopeLamas

Hahahaha it will be comedy of errors, what does omisore v to say, jst make sure his ninjas r nt there to distrupt d debate, APC! Change!

  • vica

Truth be told omisore is gonna be flawed by aregbesola, omisore has nothing to offer just as PDP has nothing to offer, APC will continue to reign in osun cus it is the people’s party. No point wishing u luck omisore, luck won’t save u from this one.

  • John green

Omisore is in trouble, haahaha!! With all the transformation that been done in osun state and omisore thinks he can match that?? He must be hullicinating for accepting the defeat with ease because he can’t even go far… Aregbesola is more and far better in terms of tranformation, assessment on relationship with commoners, all the pretence that omisore is forming on all the social media now, it won’t go anywhere because aregbesola has been on ground for the past four years associatiing with the common man and relating with many people.. I just hope he will be able to conceed the defeat easily when it comes in a month time. Change is what the osun people are enjoying and they will never stop to go along with it..

  • Fine

The benefit of the doubt. Let’s hope the questions are not skewed in favour of Aregbesola. Osun is tired of his divisive tendencies. August 9th is the date and APC is in for the shocker.

  • Danas Kalu

Good idea. A good leader can engage in a debate frankly and thoroughly, knowing that at the end he and the other side must be closer, and thus emerge stronger. You don’t have that idea when you are arrogant, superficial, and uninformed.

  • Danas Kalu

Great leaders are almost always great simplifiers, who can cut through argument, debate and doubt, to offer a solution everybody can understand.

  • Goodluck

What Date is the Debate?….on what TV station or Radio Station….I’ll love tu̶̲̥̅̊ wacht it..bt we are tu̶̲̥̅̊ note Something in this Omisore Statement. Violence!,I think he will result tu̶̲̥̅̊ violent anytime he runs out of idea bcos he will be ask what he has done with all the Constituency allowance

  • olawale
