Direct your protests at Boko Haram, not at me, Jonathan tells #BringBackOurGirls protesters

A team of government officials, representing President Goodluck Jonathan, met the protesters half-way on

President Goodluck Jonathan has asked Nigeria’s #BringBackOurGirls campaigners to direct their protests to the extremist Boko Haram sect who abducted the missing over 250 schoolgirls from their dormitories in Chibok, Borno State over a month ago.

Speaking through the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Olajumoke Akinjide, Mr. Jonathan told the protesters, who had planned to march on Aso Rock, that their anger should be directed at the terrorists holding the girls and not at the government  he leads.

“Government believes that we all must come together to fight terrorism and that protests should be directed at the terrorists who have abducted our innocent daughters and deprived them of a place at the fountain of freedom in our country,” Mr. Jonathan said.

The president also warned the protesters against politicizing the Boko Haram insurgency in the country, saying government does not deserve the kind of blame being heaped on it.

Mr. Jonathan said, “We must be careful not to politicize the campaign against terrorism. When a bomb goes off in Kabul, Afghanistan, the people of Afghanistan do not blame the government, they blame the terrorists.

“When a bomb goes off in Baghdad, Iraq, the people of Iraq do not blame the government, they blame the terrorists. When a bomb goes off in Islamabad, Pakistan, the people of Pakistan do not blame the government, they blame the terrorists. When a bomb goes off in Nigeria, we must all unite to fight the terrorists.

“This is the task of this generation. Our daughters must be freed to come home to their parents and loved ones.”

Address by The Hon. Minister of State, FCT

On the Occasion of  Visit by #Bring Back Our Girls Campaigners

Thursday, 22nd May, 2014
PROTOCOLS

1.          Good afternoon, my dear brothers and sisters.  As the Minister of State of this great City, Abuja and as a mother like some of you, I, on behalf of Mr. President welcome you all home to the seat of the Federal Government.

2.          The Federal Government is appreciative and supportive of the efforts of your group amongst so many other groups around the world, who have taken out time to demonstrate their disgust and solidarity against the wicked kidnapping of innocent school girls and the senseless mayhem of the Boko Haram terrorists.

3.          Many other groups have sent messages of solidarity and support to the Federal Government in writing and we want to use this opportunity to thank them.

4.          For a government that has placed so much premium on addressing major areas of reform and development in the nation, especially the development of women and the girl-child through increased investment in girl-child education and added opportunity for women, this wicked act has been indeed very painful.

5.          Our present world is under the grip of terrorism. Yesterday, a market in China where ordinary people go to shop was bombed. Two days ago, terrorists visited our beautiful town of Jos and detonated bombs killing scores of people.

6.          The communities of Kano, Maiduguri, Abuja, Nyanya, Madallah, amongst others, have at various times been bombed. Churches, mosques, parks and newspaper houses have not been spared.  Terrorists and their sponsors have brought terrorism to our land. This is sad.  This we must resist.

7.          In the last three weeks, our country has been in the spotlight. Some evil individuals who call themselves Boko Haram abducted our daughters, the future mothers of our nation, and have refused to release them. This evil act has sparked protests all over the world. This is as it should be. There must be a united movement for the release of our daughters and that movement must now be turned into a united action against terrorism.

8.          Government has mobilized available resources, Military and diplomatic in the search for our girls who have suffered so much trauma in captivity by agents of terror.

9.          From the very first day this kidnapping occurred the Federal Government took action, directing our security services to go after the abductors.  The search for our daughters has now assumed regional and global proportion and our nation has received strong support from our neighbouring countries and the international community including the United States, China, France, the United Kingdom, among others.

10.     The security forces also reached out to the Borno state government and community members for support and collaboration to bring back our innocent daughters. So far, the campaign to bring our daughters back home is on, and is receiving global support.

11.     Nigeria in collaboration with Chad, Niger, Cameroun and Benin Republic have all agreed to establish a single centre for sharing intelligence on the activities of terrorists across our boundaries.

12.     Apart from those efforts in the public space, our President has personally initiated consultations with so many stakeholders, to explore alternative methods of resolving this crisis.  It is wrong and most unfair to suggest that there was a slow reaction to this kidnapping.  The Commander-in-Chief meets with the security chiefs almost daily, and he is also in constant consultations with regional and global partners on these terrorist threats.

13.     This is why I want to appeal to your group and others through this medium, that it is important that your genuine patriotic zeal is matched with a realistic understanding of the situation in expressing concern and sentiment on this matter and other matters of terrorism.

14.     As early as January 23rd 2013 President Jonathan at Davos, Switzerland asked the world for help in tackling terrorism. He later met with President Obama during the United Nations General Assembly in September of 2013 where he requested for U.S. support.

15.     Government believes that we all must come together to fight terrorism and that protests should be directed at the terrorists who have abducted our innocent daughters and deprived them of a place at the fountain of freedom in our country.

16.     Our security forces are among the best trained in Africa.  They are making so much sacrifice in the fight against terror.  As we sleep daily, they are in the field confronting the enemy.  They need our support, not attacks and discouragement.

17.     When terrorists see Nigerians turn on each other in blame it gives them a huge morale boost. We must never lose sight of the fact that terrorists are the real enemy.

18.     We would like to encourage civil society groups to use their influence to encourage Nigerians to supply useful information to the security services using the emergency number 112. Citizens must protect citizens if our civilisation is to prosper.

19.     We must be careful not to politicize the campaign against terrorism. When a bomb goes off in Kabul, Afghanistan, the people of Afghanistan do not blame the government, they blame the terrorists. When a bomb goes off in Baghdad, Iraq, the people of Iraq do not blame the government, they blame the terrorists. When a bomb goes off in Islamabad, Pakistan, the people of Pakistan do not blame the government, they blame the terrorists. When a bomb goes off in Nigeria, we must all unite to fight the terrorists. This is the task of this generation. Our daughters must be freed to come home to their parents and loved ones.

20.     Our daughters must be freed so that they can return to school and receive their education.  Our daughters must be freed so that they can return home to be with their friends and play as all children their age do.

21.     I thank you for coming.  I thank you for listening and may God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

  • Victor Akuegbuonwu

Nigerians looks stupid with this so call bring back girls protest…..why directing the protest to FG and not to Boko Haram, Northern governors and the northern elders? This whole stuff looks crazy…I think this guys i paid for this protesting and it makes their motive foolish around the world.

  • Swagger

I’m saddened by this line from our leader: “When a bomb goes off in Kabul, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq… the people do not blame the government, they blame the terrorists!”

Really? All failed countries? Is that our destiny? Can the president also tell us who Americans blamed for 9/11 and Boston bombing? Didn’t they hold their government by the balls for failing in its cardinal responsibility: security? Why is President Jonathan and his ilk trying to re-write every definition of decency?

    • johansen

They are bereft of ideas and resort to brazen plea for our sympathy. Which they will not get.

      • blogNaija

a thief does not hear a plead to return what is stolen and armed men are die-hard. Boko Haram is a thief; stealing our peace and humanity.
our C-I-C (Goodluck Jonathan) has a job to do; whoever stands in his way should be fired in doing that job.
excuses are cheap- act, it is your responsibility, no other person can be C-I-C in Nigeria!

        • Angryman

Who are the people standing in his way
You can name them for us
It is always difficult quantifying what might have been
Any idea how the situation might have been without what the President is doing
Imagine in a moment a situation where Boko Haram is given free reign
The thing he needs most is the cooperation of we Nigerians
Unfortunately we are not making the job easier especially by we Nigerians who are not united in purpose
We have taken politics to an absurd level

          • Ikechukwu_67

            Angryman, really????

          • Angryman

            Of course
Boko Haram would probably have been in your village by now if the President has been doing nothing
All of us need to unite against Boko Haram

          • Babs

Can you tell us what he has done to overcome BH? I am sure the people of Chibok, Gomboru Ngala and many communities in Borno and Yobe States will tell you point blank that Mr. Dumbo Gej has not done anything if you are so myopic and hypocritical. The truth is that BH has become more stronger under the watchful eyes of this clueless, callous and wicked man called President. We all saw how Yaradua ordered the crack down of these BH, some of them were killed while others ran away. But they regrouped under this incompetent person because he doesn’t care. Gej is not competent to be even a Local Government Chairman. Well, there is God OOOOOOOO!

          • Angryman

As I said earlier , it is always difficult to quantify what might have been
But for a fact we know that the terrorists had already taken possession of a large chunk of Nigeria’s Northeast to the point that they were flying their flags over those territories
Even if you save 99% of a situation for those affected by the 1% it is a 100% failure
And it is impossible to provide 100% security
You therefore cannot say the President has not done anything
What is expected of us is to cooperate with the government as it handles this precarious situation

      • redeem

Jonathan is only begging u to empathize with the victims of boko haram bombing and not him–those boroms who are being targeted-in Jos by ther Fulanis who now claim the state is a fulani state- the Tivs who can no longer move to their farms-that is our concern–

        • babs

And Nigerians are telling Jonathan to do something if he is really the C-in-C and BRING BACK OUR GIRLS AND STOP THE KILLING OF INNOCENT PEOPLE.

        • madame

How the heck does a bomb that goes off in the middle of the market and a bus terminal targeted at the berom people or only one group of people. Do you not see that these people don’t care who is being maimed and killed? The only group not affected by this insurgency is the one that the rich and high politicians and their people belong to. They don’t talk about tribal or religious lines when they sit on their plush sofas and count their money. All that matters to them is how many zeros are. Siddon here dey talk about tribe and religion when those in charge don’t care. The common enemy is corruption and greed. Get your ish together and shine your eyes. Ignorance is a deep deep cancer. #bringbackourgirls now and alive.

        • madame

How the heck does a bomb that goes off in the middle of the market and a bus terminal target only the berom people or only one group of people or only one ethnic or religious group? I guess these bokoharam bombs ate very sophisticatedand actually conduct DNA and spiritual tests before they kill one. No doubt there are several cases of herdsmen raiding villages etc. But is that not the effect if a fast becoming ungovernable state? A country who dies not handle its security and internal welfare appropriately will have what you gave today. Is any one group greater than the great Federal Republic Of Nigeria? NO. Do you not see that these people don’t care who is being maimed and killed? The only group not affected by this insurgency is the one that the rich and high politicians and their people belong to. They don’t talk about tribal or religious lines when they sit on their plush sofas and count their money. All that matters to them is how many zeros there are. • Seun

Swagger!!! I thought the same thing. He is comparing Nigeria, to other failed nations around the world. GEJ has finally admitted what, most Nigerians realized not too long ago, Nigeria is either on the precipice towards disaster or we are already there!!!!

If he did not anticipate this Boko Haram issue esclating, why did he run for president? It is obvious to us that he is now overwhelmed by his job, hence his numerous excuses. He should not run for re-election; if he does we should ask him “What have you done for me lately’?

      • redeem

did the boston marathon bombing take place in a failed nation-monkey

        • Ikechukwu_67

But they caught the boston bombers now….Nobody blamed the republicans or the tea party, the bombers were caught, chikena!! How about doing same in the chibok case sir???

        • Ide4u

Redeem aka Deri Orbuka and GEJ have the same mental deficiency. Both of them perpetually think upside down.

    • Tunsj

Now everyone is seeing the type of President we have. A good leader always take responsibility.

      • redeem

Nigerians should learn to take up responsibility as well by becoming more patriotic-that is the message from the president–and not for us to adorn our dirty regional souls with some blood stained red T shirt—representing the old regions of 9ja—in the south west

        • Ikechukwu_67

Redeem, Please watch the South korean president taking full responsibility for the ship wreck disaster. Would your man do so? If it were in Nigeria now, you would have insisted that the President was not the captain of the failed ship…. Na wa ooo!!!

          • Tunsj

GEJ will never take any responsibility.

    • Bigtin

Unfortunately that is what Nigeria is. The structure can no longer support the system ‘cos it’s fundamentally defective and week

      • redeem

was it Jonathan who made it so–why not advocate for us to split –but dont have the courage–abi–u love 9ja cause u sure will get awuf oil revenue–

        • Bigtin

Bro, splitting will not help. What Nigeria requires today is Unity of purpose by the elite. The solutions are not rocket science, but genuine/sincere applications of the law as it applies to our everyday life. Let’s start with the rule of law as espoused by our late President, then we can make amendments as society evolves. May God help us all!

          • Wähala

Stop watering stone. The man lacks the capacity to see common sense, he’s generally ignored. Typical Aborigine with “oyel mentality” like Asari, Tompolo, Boyloaf abi na BoyGeorge, Okahs, etc. Drunks without Border!

          • Bigtin

Sorry won’t want to reduce or limit Nigeria’s grave challenges to an individual. It’s too fundamental and terminal to restrict to the Federal Government Intensive Care Unity.

          • redeem

u will continue to be in denial until another janjaweed like atiku or obasanjo are imposed unto us-again-to steal my oil revenue–did u talk when obj made himself oil minister–let Jonathan try that and see-what will happen to him–thieves

          • redeem

any time he hears about separation he begins to shiver-yet in the dark corners of his dingy u face me I face u-corridors of old-ajegunle–he prays for the SS to team up with the SE-do what I do not know-only a rogue will back the decision by the fulanis for us to drink from the same blood stain boko haram buta

          • Wähala

Believe what you like but, this same Boko Haram will spell the end of your regional presidency. The Otuoke Coward is headed back to his riverine jungles before the 2015 elections… if he’s lucky. Didirin!

    • redeem

That is the truth of the matter-as stated by the president—its only in Nigeria that such politically motivated rubbish by APC often often takes place– was Obama blamed for the Boston Marathon bombing–just months ago? who blamed George Bush-over 9/11 that killed more than 3,000 humans-? The countries that the president mentioned have bombs being exploded daily–what about Kenya that experience multiple car bombs last week-did the Kenyans send their president to the cleaners or called him names-did the south south call the Yorubas involved in human sacrifice in the 21st century 9ja- names while obj was president-

      • ugmohammed

He was not but his election was facilitated by improvement in his rating when he displayed uncommon effectiveness in respond to Huricane disaster that affect large part of US few weeks to the election. Only a fool would blame HE for the work of lunatics headed by Shekau. However GEJ has not shown leadership in dealing with the situation. In the first place intead of seeing the members of boko haram as criminals that need to be dealt with he listened to sentiment that said the issue of Boko Harm is political; because of people in the north do not want him and are causing trouble for him. Intead of being decisive he was also playing politics himself with the issue untill when the problem went beyond every body. Recall it took him two weeks to accept students were abducted in Chibok.

      • Ikechukwu_67

But Obama caught the bombers within 48 hours. He didn’t blame the republicans. In 9/11,Bush took charge of everything and he made it clear that any nation that supported the 9/11 act against the US risked destruction. He showed it and we all saw it. Can you say so about your man? In Kenya’s case, the president spoke few hours into the action, your man spoke about chibok after 2 weeks of the “gbege”. It’s even sad that the reaction of a kenyan president whose budget is no where near the money stolen in Nigeria isis much more proactive in this instance. GEJ needs to show leadership….He is not in this instance….

  • Usman

insensitivity at it’s peak, please, don’t these guys have people that advice them before they speak?, how dare you as a leader seeking re-election utter such flimsy statements, are you telling us that you and your Government are helpless, though, so many said that, but it is worrisome coming from an officially delegated personality, in fact, if the international community did not pressurised them, the issue would have gone just like the massacre of students in their dormitory in Yobe, killing of teachers and all the other bomb blast that took place, as a leader, you are responsible and you should at least pretend to be, don’t be silly

    • johansen

The guy lacks every leadership quality. Its evident in his accendancy to power. Do not dispair, we will surely correct that wrong come 2015.

      • savy

In correcting that wrong don’t ever thing a northerner will take over from him in 2015. It is either Oshiomole, Ameachi, Okorocha or Fashola. Buhari can serve as Vice president.

        • johansen

Thank God u acknowledge there is a wrong. Am not kin on buhari any but jonathan

        • Wähala

There you go again. Regional politics is what got us here, Dumbo’s line-up of Aborigine advisers is why he churns out the rubbish you read above yet, you don’t seem to get it. We want a leader no matter where he comes from. Tambuwal has demonstrated better leadership qualities than all those names you mentioned. Sha, anybody but Dumbo is the rallying cry…

          • Swagger

Tambuwal is a sham! He was part of the thieving Bankole clique- I can’t get over it. His seeming decisiveness is a ruse he believes backing in our ethno-religious mawkishness. I also reject Amaechi, Oshiomhole, Okorocha and Fasola. Any decent leader, as we speak, must be from outside of today’s politics…

          • Swagger

  • Chukwuemerie Uduchukwu

I wonder if the address presented on behalf of the president to the #BringBackOurGirls protesters at Aso Rock yesterday actually received the nod of the president.

How can a president tell peaceful protesters who wanted to receive some encouraging answers from their president that they should direct their protests to the terrorists and not the government. If I may ask who is the Chief Security Officer of the federation, is it not the president? Anyway if Nigerians must direct their protests to Sambisa forest as the President advised through the address, then he should personally take the lead as the commander-in- chief.

Nigeria is just full of peace loving people, leaders of the Arab world cannot read such address to protesters because such is enough to catalyse peaceful protests into violence. The major problem of President Jonathan is that he allowed himself to be surrounded by bad advisers. He should be careful and wiser.

Also, it is sad that nowadays the president always compare Nigeria with Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan. Such is very bad and uncalled for.

    • babs

Good observation. What do you from this lousy man. He lacks wisdom and intelligence.

    • gulak

What should we expect from president Jonathan, a man that admitted to former US ambassador to Nigeria Ms Sanders in 2010 as reported in the the wiki leaks that: he lacks the capacity to lead Nigeria, but overwhelmed by the U.S. diplomat for America’s selfish foreign policy. Today the same US congress “McCain” calling Nigeria a country with non-existing government. God save Nigeria!

I can smell censorship of anthing not critical of the president. Apparently the handiwork of your new editorial board. You better stop or we expose and discredit you Premium Times. Shame on you

        WRONG PLACE TO GO

Why shouldn’t the president snub the misguided mob.

The girls are not at Aso Rock. They are at Sambisa Forest. That is where the
mob should march and demand that BH and their Islamist Hausa/Fulani leadership
should “Bring Back Our Girls” They should also march to the homes and offices of
Boko Haram sponsors – the Hausa/Fulani Islamist leaders.

They should denounce the Hausa Fulani Islamist military commanders and
soldiers who are sabotaging the effort of the government. As long as they keep
misdirecting their protests they will be serving the interest of the
perpetrators. In this way they will embolden BH and their sponsors, civilianand
military – to carry out similar abductions and killings. Stop making fool of
        yourselves.

The evidence that Premium Times has been bought by Boko Haram sponsors is in its new editorial board headed by a jihadist

        • Naijagogoodagain

Your ignorance marvelled me! So what is the responsibilities of Jonathan then?
In case you have forgotten he is the chief security officer of this country and he is answerable to the people! Hence, the protesters are with in their right to march to Aso Rock to demand that GEJ acts like president for the first time and stop talking like a clan chief!
The problem is that because Nigerians have been abused for so many decades by military, political and religious leaders, we have been conditioned to accept fools as our leaders! This is the reasons we have incompetent and callous Jonathan as the president !
I really pray for a coup in these country so that we can start again! It sadden me to say this; but no matter what we do GEJ is gonna win in 2015. Why? Enough money will be distributed and enough rigging will be perpetuated . So there is no hope about kicking him out! We should all brace ourselves for another 4 years of these corrupt lots! Another 4 years of being the butt of the international community jokes!
If only our military can grow enough ball to overthrow all these foolish thieves through a coup! It is happening in Thailand right now because their politicians messed up!

    • Supremo

Premium Times has done enough harm that you should stop at mere threats. Expose them if you have facts and quit being a sh*thole

    • ralia

      wawa kawai

  • John

This is not new. From the begining, President GEJ has always been looking for who to blame for his inefficiencies. He is a leader that never takes responsibility. It’s a pity! Only God will rescue this country.

  • Excisionist

The protesting mob should go to Sambisa Forest

Why shouldn’t the president snub the misguided them.

The girls are not at Aso Rock. They are at Sambisa Forest. That is where
the mob should march and demand that BH and their northern religious
and political leadership should “Bring Back Our Girls” They should also
march to the homes and offices of Boko Haram sponsors –

They should denounce the Northern leaders, the their military commanders
and soldiers who are sabotaging the effort of the government As long as
they keep misdirecting their protests they will be serving the interest
of the perpetrators. In this way they will embolden BH and their

killings. Stop making fool of yourselves.

  • lemar

This is just like reporting to the police that you got robbed and they tell you that you should direct your complaints to the robbers. This is a very irresponsible man that is President o! Sigh.

    • humm

@Lemar , you are hilarious. omg, rofl, i almost fell off the chair. I totally fann you,

    • Onike24

      So funny but so true

    • Angryman

The two situations are not quite similar
Even then, if you see your property with the thief and shake him and greeted him gleefully in the presence of the Police without saying anything about your stolen property ; you wont expect the Police to take you seriously
But when you grab him by the neck shouting barawo! barawo !! BARAWO!!! , even without reporting to the Police they will definitely come to your aid
The thief will be so ashamed that he will drop your property and run away
By not blaming Boko Haram , you are indirectly telling them that you don’t see anything wrong with what they have done
That is what the President is talking about
Common sense dictates that our anger should be directed at the terrorists, the perpetrators of evil

    • Angryman

      Point of correction
The President didn’t say direct your complaints to the robber but your anger
Otherwise he will soon be back to rob some more
Let us direct our anger at Boko Haram while we cooperate with the President to rescue the girls
You should cooperate with the Police to get the robber arrested
I think that is simple enough , unless we have a hidden agenda

    • Ide4u

GEJ is in a terrible shape!! His brain and mouth does not work well and the evidence abound everywhere both at home and abroad. The man is something else!!!

      • Angryman

        It is all politically motivated

Premium Times has been bought by Boko Haramites to campaign against president Jonathan. They are censoring and refusing any postst that are critical of Boko Haram and their sponsors but publishing those critical of the president.

For posts not critical of the president, they write “Hold on, this is waiting to be approved by Premium Times” after a while, the posts are deleted. Clear evidence of junk journalism.

Is this not part of a grand conspiracy to destabilize the government of Jonathan.

    • Here&There

So if they are censoring how did this your rant get through, fish-brain?

You are right. This newspaper is clearly anti-Jonathan and his government. They are working really hard to destabilise this government. I think the government should proscribe PremiumTimes and other similar junk newspapers. It is really a junk newspaper. It is a shame that this kind of rag it still rearing its ugly head. Anything short of proscription is to give licence to Boko Haram and their sponsors. No northern government in all their years of bullish rules will tolerate this sort of nonsense from PremiumTimes said to be run by a southerner.

  • King Carlos

Lol… I have stopped blaming Jonathan because it’s obvious that the guy is not in his right senses, he has not come to the fact that he is the president of Nigeria. He still sees himself as a PhD student in otuoke. His aides are not also helping matters, they don’t even try to patch up his shortcomings. I think when God ceases to support someone, he withdraws the person’s ability to do things right. Maybe the time is up for Jonathan cos he’s not getting anything right,

Now that, Mr. Jonathan Goodlick Made the first step toward resignation of the presidency of nigeria by admitting a parallel power controlling Nigeria beside his government. The boko haram, that kills the people and you mr. Dumbostic took the oath on the bible before your God and the people of Nigeria to defend and protect the integrity of nigeria and its people guiding them towarf their enemies to kill them, it is indeed beyond sorrow and pity such statement will be made by a president to those he lead. Now assuming that boko haram a foreign country and attacked nigeria do we protest to the government which we elected or to the enemy’s governmrnt. Please #jonathanmustgo lets begin it from now.

  • Canada Boy

The question now is: What other evidence do we need to confirm that this man parading himself as the president of the country is indeed insensitive. This utterance further explains why it took the man more than three weeks before even passing any comment over the sad incident. If something is not done very fast by the same power that brought and installed this drunk as president, this man will wreck this country even before the end of this year

……. AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THE PRESIDENT HAS JUST DONE TO THE APC CLOWNS & JESTERS WHO CALL THEMSELVES #BringBackOurGirls SCAMMERS

How silly and misguided can this people be ? Oby Ezekwesili na real mumu !!!

Even a retarded person is able to know that the protests should be directed at
    Boko Haram, ……..
    at the Arewa Consultative Forum,
    at the Northern Muslim Elders,
    the Borno Muslim Elders,
at the North East Muslim Elders,
at the Northern Muslim Governors and overall
at the Northern Muslim Hausa-Fulani who are FOUNDERS AND VITAL SUPPORTERS OF BOKO HARAM AND ARE determined to use Boko Haram for the purpose of removing President Goodluck Jonathan from Aso Rock in 2015 …… recall their vow to make the country ungovernable and Atiku Abubakar’s violent change proclamation.

    IMPORTANT …… PLEASE READ

I am of the view that Boko Haram will end in less than 24hours any day that Muslims in Nigeria rise against Boko Haram just the same way they rise against cartoons in Denmark.

Concerning the kidnapping of Chibok Girls …… I had expected that Muslims all over Nigeria especially the Northern Hausa-Fulani Muslims will immediately commence street protests against Boko Haram …… but they are completely silent.

Is it not these same Hausa-Fulani Muslims who rise to violent protests against mere cartoons in Denmark ??????? Why are they so silent against heinous evil done in Chibok …. in the name of their religion ???????

Is it not these same Hausa-Fulani Muslims who rise to violent protests against Miss World Beauty Contests???????? Why are they so silent against heinous evil done in Chibok … in the name of their religion ??????.

It is not in doubt that Muslims really love evil and delight in doing wickedness !!! …… the APC sponsored and organised protests should be directed to Muslims and the specific groups mentioned in this comment

    • ralia

you have demonstrated your stupidity, foolishness and ignorance.

    • SB

Are you saying Muslims have not been part of the #BringBackOurGirls protests? Are you saying Muslims have not been victims of Boko Haram? Now consider this:

      – GEJ is the President and C-in-C, he has the direct control of the security establishments in Nigeria
      – GEJ is PDP and does not believe in the APC ‘janjaweed’ ideology
      – GEJ is from South-South and does not buy the ‘born-to-rule’ ideology of the North
      – GEJ is Christian and is totally against the ‘suicide mission’ of the BH Islamist elements

      Question:
      – Why can’t GEJ mandate and ensure that all the security and legal establishments under his control investigate/arrest/prosecute the “Northern Muslim APC” apologists that are giving him problems and making the country ungovernable for him?
      – Since GEJ and cronies know that the Borno governor is keeping the girls, why cant he get the army to rescue them and put Borno governor (and his supporters) to shame?

The #BringBackOurGirls campaign is all about one demand:

The President should wake up to his duties and lead the people on a mission to put all “Northern Muslim APC” elements that want to make Nigeria ungovernable to shame and #BringBackOurGirls now and alive.

The more he (you and others with similar lines of thought) directs Nigerians to cater for themselves (like directing protesters to Sambisa forest), the more he tells us he lacks the capacity to lead and act!!!

Nigerians want a country that is governable and free from terrorists. If GEJ and you as well, share similar intentions and act in this direction, then you can be sure of any army of citizens ready to fight with him in the #BringBackOurGirls campaigners. It is as simple as that but unfortunately GEJ (and you) keeps missing the point!!!

This President is like an imbecile child, whenever he opens his mouth, you brace for the worst. He knew from the start that he lacks the capacity to lead Nigeria but had no choice bcos Nigerians needed to make a statement to the Turai Cabal that our Constitution takes precedence over regional or internal PDP politics of zoning. But now that Dr. DoNothing has demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt that he’s a career failure, the logical step is for him to do the honorable and “step aside” in resignation. He’s a pessimist always looking up to failed states as if he was elected to lead Nigeria in overtaking those countries as the King of 3rd. World. Directing protesters to the Sambisa Forest is the height of irresponsibility coming from a supposedly educated man. Worse still, are all the sycophants and technocrats around him in Govt. acting along as if hypnotized by abject incompetence. Reuben Abati, Doyin Okupe and Leberan Maku are all graduates who could’ve vetted that speech… but, whosaih! Nigeria is in the gutter and it will take a miracle to climb out of it. Tufiakwa!

    • Excisionist

Here comes the imbecile himself, the mouthpiece of Boko Haram and the jihadist Hausa/Fulani leadershiop. Blinded by hatred for the president he pretends that he does not know where the girls are or who abducted them.

For your information bonafide imbecile, the girls were abducted by your fellow jihadists called Boko Haram. Right now, they are at Sambisa Forest. In your logic, isn’t it right that it is those who are holding the girls that should be asked to bring them back?

      • Wähala

        Aschloch!
What’s stopping your moron from taking the fight to Sambisa Forest since the whole world knows that’s where the girls were taken to? Didn’t he claim he has “no clue” as to their whereabouts, and with the same breath claim they’re unhurt? Confused imbecile. The girls were kidnapped by ND thugs with active conivance of your creek crook, Dr. Dumbo! This is one crime that will burst his balls if he doesn’t… #BringBackOurGirls! Olosi !!

        • Excisionist

          “What’s stopping … ?”

The answer is Hausa/Fulani jihadists in the Nigerian Army. As commanders and soldiers they sabotage every effort of the army is making to deal with Boko Haram whose members they, of course, are. Touch one of them and the Hausa/Fulani jihadists will cry like babies. Just like now, some of them are shouting genocide just because there is determined effort by the whole world to defeat BH.

We excisionists believe that the best way to deal with that area (NE and NW) populated by terrorists is to excise them. They are like cancer. You dont manage cancer, you cut it off. We are committed to this as you well know, imbecile.

          • Wähala

How long will it take Nasir El-Rufai and his born-to-rule Northern Muslim Hausa-Fulani VVF and illiteracy ravaged community to know that their LIE that President Goodluck Jonathan is clueless and incompetent has failed woefully as well meaning Nigerians know that the President is posting excellent performance all-round despite attempts by the Hausa-Fulani to stop him at all costs.

A LESSON FROM TURKEY ….. They should learn a lesson from the recently concluded elections in Turkey ….. the opposition thought they will win by telling lies to the people of Turkey that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is clueless, incompetent and extremely corrupt …… on the day of the election the Turkish people clearly demonstrated to the opposition that they (the Turkish people) have no stomach for lies.

      • Wähala

You must be a cave dweller. • Good citizen

Fighting terrorism is a collective responsibility. Unfortunately it is an idea that is alien to so many Nigerians influenced by disoriented politicians. When bomb goes off anywhere it does not discrimate between tribes, political parties and ages, so bombers must be our common enemy. Directing your anger to the government is misplaced. We should all condemn terrorism, encourage the leaders to be proactive and stop the blame game that would not yield any positive result. The President is right that the people of other ravaged nations don’t carry placard to condemn government but join the security agents to track the activities of terrorists. That is the way to go. That is the way Nigeria.

HAHA….SO YOU WANT TO DEFEND DUMBO STUPIDITY ON HOW TO RUN A COUNTRY? WHAT YOU ARE SAYING IS THAT WE SHOULD GO AND PROTEST TO ARMED ROBBERS WHEN THE POLICE CANNOT DEFEND US ABI?

        • Ayo Odunsi

The world clearly defines armed robbery as a crime in the first place and will hold the police accountable within reasonbale human possibilities.

But unlike armed robbery …… the Northern Muslim Hausa-Fulani are yet and will never define Boko Haram as a heinous crime.

Consequently, protests must be directed against Boko Haram and their heinous crimes until the Northern Muslim Hausa-Fulani come to terms with that which is evil.

But I doubt that the Northern Muslim Hausa-Fulani have the right idea about that which is evil …….. because of instances in Islam which is the religion they follow.

Remember that Mohammed the prophet of Islam was very much aware of the killing of Umm Qirfa by Zayd and there are no records that he ever protested.

Let me describe to you a little bit about how Umm Qirfa … a very, very old woman was killed:

“She [Umm Qirfa] was a very old woman, wife of Malik. Her daughter and Abdullah bin Mas’ada were also taken. Zayd ordered Qays bin al-Musahhar to kill Umm Qirfa and he killed her cruelly (by putting a rope to her two legs and to two camels and driving them until they rent her in two).”

Ref: The story about Umm Qirfa or “the mother of Qirfa” is one of the dark pages from the birth of Islam. It is an example of senseless and extreme violence. The story is described on p 664 and 665 of Ibn Ishaq
under the titel “Zayd B. Haritha’s raid on B. Fazara and the death of
Umm Qirfa”. As you will see, this “death of Umm Qirfa” is not a natural
death, but rather an extremely cruel murder >>>>>> by putting a rope to her two legs and to two camels and driving them until they rent her in two.

          WHO WAS ZAYD:

Who was this Zayd bin Haritha who was responsible for this “action”? Well, Zayd was not just anybody. He was a freed slave who was adopted by Muhammad (that was before Allah abolished adoption). He was one of the most fervent followers of Muhammad. Zayd was married with Zaynab (a cousin of Muhammad) until Muhammad himself fell for her charms and let them get divorced so that he could marry her. This was a huge scandal at that time. Until now, under islamitic law, you are not allowed to marry your daughter-in-law after she has been divorced from your son. At that time, they did not make a disctinction between your own children and the ones you adopt. So the solution for this problem was that Allah simply abolished the principle of adoption and told that Zayd was not really the son of Muhammad. To justify this scandal up, a revelation from Allah was badly needed.

Zayd is one of the few contemporaries of Muhammad who is actually mentioned in the Quran:

HAHAHAHA…I AM LITERATE AND CIVILISED THAT I WILL NOT COMMENT AGAINST FAITH OF OTHER PEOPLE WHAT HAPPENED 2000 OR 1500 YEARS AGO IS NOT MY PROBLEM….MY PROBLEM IS CONTEMPORARY ISSUE….MY PRESIDENT CANNOT GUARANTEE MY SECURITY AND THAT OF MY CHILDREN THAT IS MY CONCERNED AND I WILL KEEP CALLING FOR HIS HEAD (PRESIDENCY) WHENEVER HEINOUS ATTACKS ARE CARRIED BY WHOMSOEVER….(FG OR TERRORIST).
IT IS NOT PROPHET MUHAMMAD THAT IS RULING ME NOW ITS GOODLUCK SO MY BUSINESS IS WITH GOODLUCK NOT PROPHET MUHAMMAD

          • Ayo Odunsi

You can help a man when he is down but not when he decides to sleep on the floor …… the Northern Muslim Hausa-Fulani including yourself have decided to cling to Boko Harm whom you see as kit and kin …….. there is not much the President can do about that ……. can you imagine a man cutting himself with a knife and still crying that people are not helping him to stop.

The pain of Boko Haram will certainly get to all Hausa-Fulani Muslims.

          • Ioseb Vissarionovich Dze Jugha

THIS SHOWS CLEARLY YOU ARE IGNORANT….HAVE YOU EVER TRAVELED TO ANY STATE IN THE NORTH EAST REGION?? I KNOW YOU HAVENT AS EVEN THE PRESIDNT IS AFRAID TO GO THERE…IF TO SAY YOU HAVE TAVELLED YOU WILL ACKNOWLEDGE HOW THE PEOPLE OF THE REGION ARE WONDERING HOW THE FEDERAL GOVT PLAN THE ATTACK ON THEM (JUST AS THE US SAID THE FG IS DOING NOTHING TO HELP THE NORTHERN GOVERNORS IN FIGHTING INSURGENCY) SO AS I ALWAYS PUT IT…GEJ WILL NEVER BE A COUNCILLOR NOT TO TALK OF PRESIDENT IN A REASONABLE COUNTRY

          • Ayo Odunsi

The Northern Muslim Hausa-Fulani ruled Nigeria for 50 consecutive years starting from independence and it is not in doubt that they left a terrible mess …… it took the coming President Goodluck Jonathan for us to tackle the mess they made of electricity in Nigeria.

It is your competent IBB that used $12Billion Gulf Oil Windfall to buy TV sets for Aso without thinking of electricity for Nigeria ………. cow brains !!!

          • Ioseb Vissarionovich Dze Jugha

HAHAHAHA…….SO NOW YOU ARE SAYING NIGERIANS ARE ENJOYING 247 OF ELECTRICITY???? AS FOR THE MESS LEFT BY PASS LEADERS THAT IS NOT MY BUSINESS BECAUSE DUMBO COME WITH THE PROMISE THAT HE WILL CLEAR SUCH MESS BUT INSTEAD OF DOING SO HE IS IN ASO ROCK DRINKING OGOGORO AND PUTTING MUCH MESS THAN ANYOTHER PASS LEADER…….
AS FOR CORRUPTION ALL YOU ARE ASKING IBB IS 12B USD IN HIS 8 YEARS IN POWER…IN A SINGLE SCANDAL DURING GEJ ERA, NIGERIA LOSS ABOUT USD20B (SANUSI LAMIDO SANUSI) NOT TO TALK OF OTHER THEFT WHICH DUMBO SAID WE SHOULD STOP CALLING THEM CORRUPTION AS THEY WERE JUST MERE THEFT

          • Ayo Odunsi

Please be informed that $12Billion in IBB’s time is more than $800Billion today

          • Ioseb Vissarionovich Dze Jugha

            HAHAHA…PROVE IT

          • Onike24

So what? A thief is a thief is a barawo

        • Angryman

Sorry , if I may contribute
In this instance it is better you lynch the armed robber rather than protest
It will be a public good
Public opinion is a powerful tool
Let us use it against Boko Haram – unless we support their cause

          • Ioseb Vissarionovich Dze Jugha

whoever lynch an armed robber doesnt have respect for humanity……there is law in every country (unless its ruled by clueless leaders) taking the order by oneself and executing some one barbarically is jungle justice, so if the security agencies did their work there will no be armed robberz…..so because armed robbery and kidnappings are persistent in the south do you want to say the people support it?

          • Angryman

            I said in this instance
Boko Haram are worse than armed robbers
A desperate situation demands a desperate response
            The doctrine of necessity
The President was not saying you should protest to the armed robber but against the armed robber
Don’t forget you could be the next victim
Nobody supports armed robbery or kidnappings in the South and public opinion is always against them
Direct your anger to the right quarters – Boko Haram – unless you support their cause

      • Yahuza Sani Sagagi

Should he stop patronizing Almajiri “thought process” and patronize Goodluck Jonathan’s?

  • ige folorunsho

It is very evident that president goodluck is a very weak president who never dreamt of becoming a president but found himself on that seat. His aides are clearly the ones calling the shots and taking decisions on his behalf with him only being their mouth piece. I doubt if Nigeria will be able to tolerate jonathan’s ineffectiveness till 2019. The man simply has nothing to offer. Nigerians should just follow their consciences and vote the candidate of their choice irrespective of party. Our current president is now a laughing stock around the world. What a shame!

  • Baji

An irresponsable assumption “Hunting Dogs surrounded your daughters in a no go area forest you run to a marshal for rescue the C in C refer you back to the Dogs who if you met kill you and your family” diya…is…god…Oooo..

  • Ahmed Tukur

people can tolerate poverty but cant tolerate insecurity.

  • smallly

Its too bad aNd shameful at Nigerian soldiers of today. We use to hear Nigerian soldiers hold countrys inteams of peace taking,, We can’t hold just 3 states with 250 km forest with BH in it.
Oga Jonathan is busy caring water with basket.. Poor Jonathan fire cominng to him at all angles. The father of the Nation runnning away.

  • ugmohammed

Obama was not blamed for disasters in America but his election was facilitated by improvement in his rating when he displayed uncommon effectiveness in respond to Huricane disaster that affect large part of US few weeks to the election. Recallthe government that has security reports from all the security aparatus wasted three week debating whether the girls were abducted or not. It took the intervention of internation championed by Oby Ezikwesili for them to start pretending they are acting.

  • Jonathan

And who do we blame for the billion of dollars they are stealing, just last month a boat sunk at South Korea with some students, the government took the responsibility and resigned. in nigeria, the President was at Kano dancing in public to celebrate the Nyanya bomb blast, this shows that he is also a beneficiary to the crisis. We will continue blamming them, so long as they are collecting salaries as public officers (and paharps looting our treasury). if they are not capable of administering the country let them resign.

  • What??

Who says such a stupid stuff that people should protest against BH only? Well, then you should have had ur head out of the sand when the families intially cried out that their children was missing. But, you denied it and wasted such a valuable time in finding those girls. THE MORE REASON THEY SHOULD PROEST AGAINST YOUR LAZY ARSE!! BTW, those jokers from the villa walking half way to meet the protesters should be ashamed of themselves. HYPOCRITES

  • Truthometer

    Callousness is thy name, Dumbo.

  • Guguru

    Shame on Jonathan!!!!

    • Concerned_9ja

      Shame on u too!!!

  • clairvoyance

If there is any doubt in your mind about the type of ruler we have got as president since 2010, here u have it. Unprepared, indecisive, inefficient, cluless, lost in ignorance, pale n passive. This guy sucks. Warri were I m from even the dumbest of street urchins cannot behave like this. I think there is a problem with the brain of the ijaws, they are irritants except for few who are quite intelligent majority of them surfer from brain fatique what a tribe, what a pity.

  • Seriously

This man doesnt know why he is a president. Does he know how many times citizens in other countries protest against their presidents without them whining?. He didnt act in a timely manner to rescue these girls rather he waited for CNN to school him about his responsibility as a leader. Now he is trying to strive the media from covering the protest and interviewing people.

    • Angryman

How do you know he didn’t act in a timely manner
Our way of life is different from that of the Americans
Why should we measure our life with that of the Americans
Must we do things the way America does
Actually we are worlds apart in many respects
Because the President did not call a press conference as they do in America for the smallest thing you conclude he was not doing anything
Moreover there are individual leadership styles
If they want to help us rescue the girls they should without insulting our sensibilities

  • redeem

Bro jona, the money you send to me via abati have not been delivered and as you know, online media campaign is serious business. I have been trying to contact you but abati have been frustrating my efforts. Pls pay me my April allowances. Pdp/jona for life.

    • Angryman

This is impersonation – it is obvious
      Are you people so desperate
You don’t have to be paid before you express your opinion on something you feel strongly about
Can we say that with you APC guys?

  • Dr Pat Kolawole Awosan

President Ebele Jonathan, is truly a clueless, moron, ineptitude, ineffective and irresponsible president of Nigeria by telling demonstrators not to direct their protest at him but at Boko Haram terrorists.
President Ebele Jonathan, is very unintelligent, lacks common-sense,non-performing,kindergarten,corrupt-ridden,disgraceful and ridicule to Nigeria state,in the eyes of international community,he foisters kindergarten, ineptitude, clueless and massive corruption practice-governance on Nigeria. The worst and most corrupt-ridden president Nigeria ever had in history.

    • Danladi

You are absolutely the one who is a clueless moron for clearly proving that you do not know where the girls are or who abducted them.

  • alecs

How I wish that some of these idiots calling themselves leaders were bombed and we can blame Boko Harrams. Sincerely, Nigeria is finished. What did we do to God to deserve these animals. Indeed we must have wronged God for him to unleash these vermin on us.

  • Okpara Okonjo

While talking about the need for Nigeria to uphold the ‘rule of law’ and prevent anarchy or a state of lawlessness in the Northeastern States; one should not point the fingers on FGN or Nigerian Police alone; State Governments, LGAs and corrupt members of the Bench(Judges and Magistrates) are also contributing to the lawlessness!

  • perm sec

Well, this really shows how fucked up our president is. Its just a way of saying that Nigeria is a failed state like the countries he mentioned. May God Almighty save us from this mayhem…….

    • Angryman

We have all contributed to it in one way or the other in varying degrees
Let us not blame the President alone
Righteousness coupled with patriotism could have prevented that

  • Excisionist

Here is part of my contribution which is critical of the terrorists that Premium Times has refused to publish. PT has become a mouthpice of APC and Boko Haram. Here is part of it

The girls are not at Aso Rock. They are at Sambisa Forest. That is where the mob should march and demand that BH and their Islamist Hausa/Fulani leadership should “Bring Back Our Girls” They should also march to the homes and offices of Boko Haram sponsors – the Hausa/Fulani Islamist leaders.

  • Ehi

I like many other people wondered why Rotimi Amaechi has been so diaparaging of the president. We all know why now.

  • Gunnermachine

George Bush was clueless but Americans stood behind him in condemning te terrorists after 9/11.Our failure to condemn BH in clear terms in a way is a tacit support for them!

  • Lanre

I just watched the video of Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili. Commendable.

  • Leonard

The president’s attempt to outsource accountability for national security must be good news to Boko Haram. I think it is a display of crass iresponsibility for the president to make such a statement. How can the failure of the security apparatus be blamed on anyone else but the Chief Security Officer? The armed forces, police, judiciary and the entire legal system is in place to prevent bad behaviour or punish it when it occurs. A bomb goes of because someone failed to prevent it. Villages are destroyed and no one is punished for it because someone failed to bring them to justice. We cannot blame bad people for doing bad things Mr. President, we blame the people who feed from the state purse and have the mandate to keep bad people in check for failing in their duties. We blame them even more when they spend 25% of the annual budget to do such shody job. We blame them to the high heavens when their failure results in irreversible destruction of lives and properties of Nigerians.
And when the President makes such feeble attempt to obscure the logic of the people’s legitimate outcry against his failure, then the alarm bells really start banging…”blame the thief for stealing”, he says, the murderer for killing, BH for being BH”…utter rubbish.! We might as well just blame the mosquitoes for biting rather than put malaria prevention or eradication on someone’s score card.

Mr. President, I find fault with people working to ruin your government, but I can’t blame them for your response. Your response is your responsibility and utterances like this serve to legitimise the public outcry against you. Tardy, uninspiring and irresponsible are a few adjectives to describe your response on BH to date. I’d rather have “there is God O…” which if you ignore the funfest it generated on social media was in perfect sync with the mood of the moment. One up Dame. You have my respect there.

The more freedom of speech people have, the more speech you should expect from them and this is supposed to be a good thing. You are not nearly as criticised as the US president yet. But if you are going to act and talk like this about national security, about daily loss of innocent lives, then you had better brace yourself for some truth serum. Did I hear someone shout APC? The party doesn’t even exist in any serious form in my geopolitical zone (Benue Zone C- the Senate president’s zone) and I think PDP is the only party has a truly Nigerian feel, APC is a brew of regional parties, garnished with disgruntled ex – PDP and spiced with Buhari. The tag on this cocktail doesn’t even say whether it is to be served cold or warm. It is untested, risky, foggy experiment. I hope it works. Back to my point – APC is not responsible for what the president says. This is my reaction to the president’s comments.

Quiz time: When a bomb goes off in the presidential wing of Aso rock who will the President blame? The answer to this question should reveal the extent of tactless insensitivity, irresponsibility and poor logic demonstrated by the President here.
