The NIS said it is imperative for everyone in Nigeria to be security conscious given the security challenges.
The Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, says it has arrested 45 suspected illegal foreigners in Yola, Adamawa.
The Controller of the service in the state, Rauf Adegboyega, said on Wednesday, in Yola, that the arrest was part of the renewed efforts by the command to check illegal entry into the country.
Mr. Adegboyega said the suspects, who allegedly gained entry into the country without valid documents, comprised 36 men and nine women.
“We are not saying that foreigners should not come into the country but when they are coming they should come with their valid documents so that we will be able to identify them.
“It will make our job of monitoring their activities in the country easier.”
He said that those arrested would be repatriated to their countries.
Mr. Adegboyega commended the support received from residents and community leaders in exposing the illegal foreigners.
He said the current security challenges in the country has made it
imperative for everyone to be security conscious.
The controller further solicited the support of the public, adding that government and its agencies alone could provide security for the people.
