President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday held a security meeting with leaders of Nigeria’s security agencies.
The meeting was also attended by the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Ayo Oritsejafor; and the head of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar.
The meeting, presidency sources said, discussed the worsening security situation across the country particularly in some northern states.
The meeting is part of an enlarged security meeting the president is holding to review the security situation across the country.
A similar but controversial meeting was held last Thursday with security chiefs and state governors in attendance. However, the 16 governors of the All Progressives Congress were not invited for that meeting.
The worsening insecurity has led to the killing of scores of people in Zamfara, Taraba, Borno, and other states in the last one month.
Over 200 female students of a secondary school were also kidnapped in Chibok, Borno state last week.
