Army says offensive attacks on terrorists have intensified.

The Cameroonian security forces have succeeded in capturing two suspected arms suppliers to terrorists in Nigeria, an official has said.
According to a statement by the Director of Defence Information, Chris Olukolade, over 288 rifles, 35 Rocket Propelled Guns and 35 improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, were recovered from the suspects by the Cameroonian forces.
Mr. Olukolade said the recovery was made after a fierce encounter at Abugasse, Cameroon, close to the Chadian border.

Other items recovered include pistols, mortar bombs, sub-machine guns, various calibres of ammunitions, 50 Cameroonian passports and a Toyota Jeep.

The Boko Haram insurgents are known to operate from border areas between Nigeria, Chad, and Cameroon. The group is responsible for the deaths of thousands of people since its insurgency began in 2009.

According to an exclusive report by PREMIUM TIMES, the Nigerian government had signed an agreement with France, the Republic of Benin, Cameroon, Chad and Niger to increase the level of coordination and exchange of intelligence, as well as hold regular meetings of experts, with a view to ensuring effective policing of common borders.

Mr. Olukolade also said the renewed offensive attack on the terrorist Boko Haram by Nigerian troops had resulted in a series of arrests of terrorists and recovery of arms, especially close to the nation’s border with Cameroon.

He said the arrest of a terrorist in a green Peugeot vehicle with the registration number, Bauchi 264 AA, headed to Maiduguri from Alagarno, led to the recovery of 15 AK47 rifles, 12 magazines and various unassembled riffles.

Mr. Olukolade also noted that the offensive attacks were still on going on various fronts, as well as intensive air and ground surveillance.

He said that there have been intense operations since Monday in the Alagarno area and many parts of Sambisa forest and suburbs in Borno State, leading to the arrest of the terrorists and recovery of vehicles and weapons.
