The police said it has arrested five suspects.
The Police in Borno State on Friday alerted residents on the increasing rate of rape and other sexual abuses of minors in the State.
This is contained in a statement issued by the spokesperson for the command, Gideon Jubrin, in Maiduguri.
“The command wishes to bring to the attention of the general public the activities of some individuals who engage in luring or seducing minors.
“This command has received reports of criminal activities of some people, who lure minors into homosexuality, rape and other related offences,” Mr. Jubrin, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said.
He said that five persons had been arrested and that all cases would be charged to court at the end of ongoing investigations. He called on parents and guardians to keep an eagle eye on the activities of their children and wards.
The spokesperson appealed to citizens to report any suspicious activities in their neighbourhood for immediate action by the security agencies.
Borno State is under emergency rule as Nigerian security agencies try to subdue Boko Haram insurgents who have killed thousands of people since 2009.
