The student killed himself because his sister allegedly refused to pay his fees.
The police in Taraba on Wednesday confirmed that a 400-level student of Taraba University, Friday Samson, committed suicide in Jalingo after a family disagreement.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Joseph Kwaji, who confirmed the incident, said the police were still investigating the matter.
He said Samson, a student of Mathematics, allegedly died after taking a substance.
Kwaji said a suicide note was found in the pocket of the deceased in which he alleged that his sister had refused to pay his school registration fees.
According to the note, the PPRO said, Samson, 32, took the poison to express his grievances over the alleged refusal to pay the school fees.
