Boko Haram kills 29 secondary school students in Yobe

Boko Haram insurgents

The JTF confirmed the attack.

Reports from Yobe State indicate that about 29 students of the Federal Government College, Buni Yadi, were killed on Monday night while they slept in their dormitories.

The spokesperson of the Joint Task Force, JTF, in the state, Lazarus Eli, confirmed the attack to Aljazeera network. He however did not give the exact number of casualties.

Mr. Eli said the gunmen “opened fire on student hostels.”

He said details are still sketchy due to lack of telephone access and it is still not clear how many students were affected in the attack.

The outlawed Boko Haram sect is suspected to be behind the attack which took place around 2 a.m.

The sect had carried out a similar attack in Yobe last September killing over 40 students at the College of Agriculture, Gujba.

Also, earlier in July last year, Boko Haram carried out an overnight attack on students of Government Secondary School, Mumoda, killing over 40 students.

Mr. Eli said the military has already dispatched a team to Buni Yadi to track and apprehend the killers.

Yobe, like Borno and Adamawa, has been under emergency rule since May 2013 as the military tries to dislodge the Boko Haram insurgents. Despite the emergency rule, hundreds of people have been killed in different attacks in the affected states.

    This senseless mayhem is happening because the Coward-in-Chief of our armed forces is constantly drunk and after the wrong targets. Chasing Sanusi out of the CBN and plotting for 2015 is all the ogogoro head knows and thinks about, while sleeping die in their thousands bcos he doesn’t give a damn. The war on terror should be outsourced since the JTF bold upon sighting the bad boys.

      Na you dey give am the ogogoro?

      If you are not a coward, then use your name. Do you understand how guerrilla warfares are tackled. If you want him to act like OBJ, the best thing is to level all the villages and bushes close to Izge and the BH numbers would be greatly reduced.
      The bold, go contest for governorship in yoir state and you would know that no lily livered person does politics in Nigeria. Recall that the Boko Haram founding Governor paid dearly with his Younger brother and cousin in 2010?

      So in your dreams you call Jonathan a coward? I pity you!

      The name u bear here tells ur back ground. If u had home training you won’t write & insult somebody that is beta than the whole people in you village. Animal like you.

    This act in Yobe state point to previous suggestions that Shetima knows so much about the insurgency.

    What they simply did in Yobe this morning was to spread the carnage there so that the pressure to remove Shetima would be diluted since the carnage is not restricted to Bornu but is back to Yobe and removal of Shitma would look like a witchhunt.

    SSS please dig deep into today’s Yobe strike.

    • Embee

      Emmanuel, you have to be a mentally sick person to even contemplate this line of thought.

    The looter and senseless liar parading himself as president boosted yesterday that if he should withdraw military from Borno state then the governor will not be able to stay in the state. Now if we may ask this accidental president, what makes the different when average of 35 people (including military men) are being killed under your nose on daily basis. Not even in Syria did they ever record this high number of killings. The next comments from his apologists is to demand “respect for the president”. Must this guy rule Nigeria by force? Is there no other reasonable human being from Niger Delta that run the affairs of this country? I can just imagine what Nigeria will look like in the next 5 years if this senseless man is allowed to rig himself to power come 2015. And for OBJ, can you see where your “I too know” has landed us as a country. My prayer for you is that the blood of those innocent souls will begin to torment you until you enter your grave for imposing this idiot on us as president

    ………………………………………………. HEAR O NIGERIANS …………………………………………………

    Proverbs 26:27 (KJV)
    27 Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.

    The NSA is a Northerner;
    The IG is a Northerner;
    The Chief of Defense Staff is a Northerner;
    The Minister for Defense is a Northerner;
    The GOC 7 Division is a Northerner;

    The natives who are persecuting members of the armed forces but gladly hiding and assisting members of Boko Haram in their respective communities are Northerners and from Borno State to be specific.

    They talk about implementation of reports of various committees …… I challenge them to publish the contents of these reports for public review ….. the essence of all their reports is that FG should give them more money to chop.

    North Eastern State which now comprises Bauchi, Gombe, Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, and Taraba States was created at the same time in 1967 with Rivers State.

    As at today there are a whopping 112 Local Governments in North Eastern State …… how else do you bring meaningful development to a people if the Local Governments are of no help to them.

    It is on record that they have more States and far more Local Government in the North East.

    Then North Eastern State – 6 States as at today with a total of 112 Local Governments
    Then Rivers State – 2 States as at today with a total of 31 Local Governments.

    What else do they (the) Northern Muslim Hausa-Fulani want ….. that will bring development to them?

    Enough is enough!!!

      112 local Govt from one state and 31 from another?

      If you aggregate what they collect as State and local govt monthly allocation, you would understand that they want to perpetuate southern Nigeria in poverty.

      On National Conference we stand, on Regional government we stand.

      May God gramt Southern delegates, the grace to see through our positions at the conference

    Were we waiting for innocent youthful blood to run like a river on our land before we match past those who are supposed to protect innocent lives. My candid take, hand over the state to a military administrator. I am so pained cos I’m a mother. May God grant their parents the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.
