Alao-Akala says issue of sovereignty should not be discussed
A former governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala, says he is in support of no-go areas during the National Conference.
Mr. Alao-Akala said in Ogbomoso that issues revolving around the sovereignty and unity of Nigeria should not be discussed at the conference.
“Nigeria is very fragile and no-go-areas recommended with regards to the sovereignty of the nation are in order. It will be too contentious to talk about our sovereignty as a nation. Every other issue except that can be discussed. All that have to do with or that can cause disintegration of the country should be avoided at the conference,” he said.
Mr. Alao-Akala also described the composition for the conference as being in order and urged the people to support the initiative aimed at enhancing peace, mutual understanding and nation building.
The former governor, however, urged Nigerians to be careful on the choice of people to be nominated to represent them at the conference.
He also urged the South West Zone not to nominate those who might want to scuttle the conference, adding that such action would not help the region.
