The APC had been engulfed in a leadership crisis since the election of its interim state executive officers
The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kaduna State, Muhammad Attahir, on Tuesday said the registration of party members, scheduled to commence on Wednesday nationwide, may not start in the state.
Mr. Attahir said in Kaduna that the state’s Interim Management Committee and other stakeholders of the party were still awaiting instructions from the national secretariat of the party.
Officials mandated by the party to handle the registration exercise were manhandled by suspected thugs at a meeting with stakeholders on Sunday in Kaduna.
The party had been engulfed in a leadership crisis since the election of its interim state executive officers, resulting in the resignation of the its state chairman on Sunday; which was however rejected by the management committee.
Mr. Attahir said the officers assigned to conduct the registration in the state had been directed by the national secretariat of the party “to stay action pending when issues are resolved”.
The spokesperson was, however, optimistic that the issues would be resolved soon for the membership registration exercise to commence.
The APC stakeholders in the state had met on Wednesday in an effort to resolve the internal crisis.
