The delegation was led by the Bayelsa State governor

A delegation from Bayelsa State led by Governor Seriake Dickson on Thursday commended Vice President Namadi Sambo for his unwavering support and loyalty to President Goodluck Jonathan.

The group made the commendation during a courtesy call on the VP in his office at the State House, Abuja.

The delegation also included former Bayelsa governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, members of the state executive council, members of the state house of assembly, federal lawmakers from the state, as well as traditional rulers.

The Vice President assured his guests of his unflinching loyalty to President Goodluck Jonathan, noting that the confidence he receives from the president spurs him to do even more.

“I want to assure you that I will personally continue to give my full support and loyalty to Mr. President. I also assure you that we will not allow anything to detract us. The Transformation Agenda of Mr. President is well on track.  We are happy to note that today we have achieved a lot within this short period of over two years; we have achieved what several administrations were not able to achieve,” he said.

“We will continue to work in the interest of Nigeria, we will continue to work as patriotic Nigerians and we will ensure that we deliver dividends of democracy to Nigerians”, he added

Mr. Sambo used the opportunity to intimate the delegation of some of the projects being executed by the Federal Government in Bayelsa State. The projects, he said, include the Brass Natural Gas project and the Ship building yard promoted by NIMASA, which would make the state to be the first ship building state in West Africa. He added that the Federal Government was also supporting the state in the construction of an airport and several other projects that would create wealth and jobs to the people of Bayelsa State and Nigerians as a whole.

The Vice President also commended Mr. Dickson for his projects, expressing delight with the support that the state government had extended to the realisation of the Transformation Agenda.

Mr. Sambo, who said he would make Bayelsa a second home after retirement, added that he would pick up the teaching of Architecture in the Federal University Otuoke.

“I want to assure you that we will continue to support you and work in the inertest of this country. The time has come that we need to put our hands together, we need to cooperate together to ensure that we succeed in this endeavour, to live peacefully, to cooperate and be our brothers keeper,” he said.

Earlier, Mr. Dickson disclosed that they were in the State House to express appreciation of Bayelsa indigenes to the vice president for his commitment, selfless dedication, and transparent loyalty to President Goodluck Jonathan.

While urging the President and the Vice President not to be detracted, he said “this is one presidency that is united; this is one presidency that is committed to delivering the dividends of democracy without rancour, without division and this is one presidency that is poised to take Nigeria to higher glory.”

Speaking further, Mr. Dickson said “Mr. Vice President, it is in appreciation of your transparent, demonstrated and demonstrable loyalty in the course of working and supporting the President; in the course of giving service to the people of this country; in the course of doing what you have been called upon to do, that the Government and good people of Bayelsa State here represented and the several others who are back home are here to convey our heartfelt appreciation to you and the President of the Federal Republic.”

“We are here because we consider you to be one of us, we are here because we admire what you are doing, supporting quietly and loyally, never complaining, everybody knows how smooth the Presidency runs. We know that with the two of you working as you are doing, with you giving support as you have been known to be giving, we know that the Transformation Agenda of the Federal Government will succeed and is already succeeding and Nigerians will continue to reap the dividends of what you people are doing at the Federal level.”

In his remarks the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godsday Orubebe, also intimated the delegation of the projects being executed by his ministry, particularly the East-West road; which he said would be completed by December 2014. He also mentioned nine skill acquisition canters that would be commissioned in March 2014.
