Taraba Governor, Suntai, advises Nigerians to shun evil, turn to God

Governor asks Nigerians to turn to God and abhor the drinking of alcohol

Recuperating Taraba state Governor, Danbaba Suntai, has urged Nigerians to turn to God and change their evil ways.

Mr. Suntai spoke in Jalingo, the Taraba state capital, about his mental and physical health, more than a year after suffering severe injuries in an air crash.

In a undated video uploaded by news website, Saharareporters, Mr. Suntai appeared frail and in pains as he responded to a reporter’s questions.

He however appeared to have improved relative to his last appearance in the media.

Mr. Suntai however admitted he had not sufficiently recover to resume work as governor.

“I cannot tell you that it is well with me to return to my office simply because I want you too support me, but you know the truth; I am not well at all to return to office as I am now,” the governor said.

Mr. Suntai suffered injury to his brain during the plane crash near Yola airport in Adamawa state on October 25, 2012.

He spent several months abroad where he received treatment before travelling back to Nigeria in August 2013.

Zakari Yusuf Aliyu, professor of Medicine and Public Health, and Chief Medical Director of Taraba State Specialist Hospital Jalingo had said it could take “weeks, months, even years for him to come back to his pre-accident state.”

Interviewer: Good to see you. How are you sir? I am happy to see you too, we felt the situation is worse than this but thank God, this is very very interesting. I have been told about your development and how you are improving.

Governor Suntai: Yes

Interviewer: The process of your recuperation, hope is it going on fine?

Governor Suntai: It is going on well (Murmuring between Anchor and Suntai)

Interviewer:  what will be your message to Nigerians?

Governor Suntai: if they will put all this things aside and attend to God, I think they will solve the problem because this thing God does not like it. But we are doing it when we know that God does not permit us to do it. It is unfortunate that we have decided to listen to the devil in this case. So it is unfortunate that I am involve in this drinking of hot drinks.

Interviewer: Looking at it now are you well or fit to return to your office as the executive governor of Taraba state now.

Governor Suntai: Well I cannot tell you that it is well with me to return to my office simply because I want you too support me, but you know the truth; I am not well at all to return to office as I am now.

RESPECT TO PREMIUM TIMES. Your measured and carefully worded headline shows tremendous maturity on the part of the editor. Unlike the other online guys…..who just revel in making a mockery of the man. You have by this act shown you have some moral principle to understand that life belongs to God and no man should rejoice over others misfortune. Nobody knows tomorrow. Whatever you sow you will reap. It is Suntai today who knows tomorrow.

i seriously appreciate and commend your maturity. After all this is not and should not be personal but a service to and for the good of our nation. That should always be the main focus and the driving force. Thank you.

They did a great job–this is real journalism-and must be commended for it-added a human angle to it-May the Almighty God continue to watch over him-protect him till the end-cause he has only himself and the creator now to guide and work with him-the rest are traitors-gluttons that should be avoided-
