Diesel truck explodes, kills 2 in Funtua, Katsina

Two persons were killed in an explosion on Monday.

A diesel truck on Monday exploded and killed two persons at Bakin-dutse in Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The FRSC Unit Commander in Funtua, Rabiu Usman, confirmed the incident and gave the registration number of the tanker as, XA 224 FTA.

Witnesses said that the deceased persons were the driver of the truck and a welder.

They said the truck was loaded with diesel, but had one of its compartments broken down and a welder was called to repair it.

“While the welder was fixing the compartment, the truck burst into flames and both the driver and the welder sustained severe burns and were rushed to the hospital where they died,” a witness said.

Mr. Usman advised truck drivers to always be cautious with the vehicles, especially when they were loaded with fuel.
