Nigeria Police promotes 2 AIGs, 3 CPs

Officers promoted to DIGs and AIGs

The Nigeria Police Force on Monday announced the promotion of two Assistant Inspectors General, AIG, of Police to Deputy Inspectors General. Three Commissioners of Police were also promoted to AIGs.

According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, the promotion list was released by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar.

The officers promoted to the rank of DIG were Michael Zuokumor – formerly AIG in charge of Zone 4, Makurdi, and Jonathan Johnson – formerly AIG in charge of Zone 6, Calabar.

Promoted to AIGs were Commissioners of Police, Fana Salisu (Force Quartemaster), Musa Daura (Kano) and Kakwe Katso (Homicide, Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID, Abuja).

The promotion came four days after the pulling out ceremony of two DIGs, Philemon Leha and Marvel Akpoyibo, at the Force headquarters in Abuja.

Mr. Abubakar enjoined the newly promoted senior officers to prove to the nation that they were worth their new rank and also see their present elevation as an invitation to greater responsibilities. He expressed confidence that the newly promoted officers would bring to bear their professional competence, discipline and experience to their new assignment.
