PDP insists APC promotes religious bigotry

The PDP challenged the APC to publish the name of its interim officials

The war of words between the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, over the religion in politics continued on Wednesday with the former insisting that the APC is promoting religious divisions.

The PDP, in a statement by its spokesperson, Olisa Metuh, also challenged the APC to publish the list of its 35 interim officials and state their offices.

The PDP was responding to APC’s statement admonishing it for trying to build animosity in the 2015 election using religion.

“It is shocking that the APC would attempt to hoodwink Nigerians even in the face of incontrovertible facts exposing its religious inclinations and plots to divide the nation along religious lines.”

The PDP said contrary to the denials posted by the APC in its statement on Wednesday, “the revelations by an Islamic cleric, Ambassador Yusuf Garba and the Religious Equity Promotion Council (REPC) that APC seeks to impose an agenda like the Egypt Muslim Brotherhood remains a fact that cannot be brushed aside.”

The ruling party stated that it will continue to expose and resist anything that seeks to cause divisions among Nigerians.

It called on Nigerians to resist the antics of the APC to Islamise the country.

    • Fairgame

That was then way before Buhari called for sharia in the whole of Nigeria. Now the Christians re not as trusting. The Islamic jihad agenda of APC will fail. All well meaning Nigerians especially Yorubas will stand up against this. How can the entire leadership of the APC be all Muslims and you want Nigerians to vote for APC ….

      • Haske

who stop the Christians from joining the party,is it in the constitution of APC to ban any nigerian christian from becoming member, remember majority of the parties/leaders that formed the present APC are from the North by extension muslims.stop deceiving yourself islamatizing nigeria is not possible lets learn to respect each other faith and live in peace, PDP is using this to cover up her failure and seek for sympathy.

What has Jonah done for the Christians? Did he not surround himself with Muslims? The hardship in Nigeria has no religion fyi

  • Bazamfare

Respected political commentators in almost all the newspapers in Nigeria predicted that the PDP will use religion and ethnicity in 2015 elections campaigns and we are beginning to see that now. May God save us all.

  • mosaku 147

But why is metuh behaving like an animal now.have we as Nigerians ever questioned the ethnicity of the super eagles?let them all be ibo Hausa or Yoruba. Nobody cares because they are winning. The real Nigerian doesn’t give a f..k about Christian or moslem/Yoruba,ibo or Hausa.
Please Mr Foolish don’t endanger our lives upnorth.bomboclat punkass.

    Confused PDP

  • Just Say it as it is

The PDP papa deceive pikin is fighting for political survival as we speak. Nobody really cares about Islamizing or Christianizing Nigeria. All we want is good governance, transparency, accountability, free citizens participation in our democracy, the rule of law, the strengthening of our constitution to supersede persons and personalities. Economic empowerment for the Nigerian masses. Today a bag of rice is #13,000:00 whether you are a Muslim or a Christian that’s what you will pay, whether you are from Niger Delta or Niger Sahara that’s the price. Our meeting point as Nigerians is the Social-economic point and not religious hullabaloo.

    • Fairgame

I still want the freedom of worship that exists in the south and most parts of Nigeria! The jihadist imaginations of the leaders of APC will fail. Look at the the polarization that APC jihadist Rauf Aregbesola has brought to our otherwise peaceful south west. We will not allow this Islamic agenda to stand in Nigeria- an entire leadership of APC all Muslims? Haba! Buhari wanting sharia law in the whole of Nigeria! Never! Sharia law has no place in our constitution and why it has been allowed to stand against what Tafawa Balewa had drafted for the North is not only sad but retrogressive. The big robbers stealing billions in the north are about marrying more children-wives while the poor have hands cut off for stealing chickens or goats… But well the national conference should sort all that out I hope. I just pity the ethnic minorities in the Northern states who have been under Hausa Fulani oppression and domination for so long. I wonder what will happen to them after this country is restructured…but for now, no Islamic agenda while Nigeria still exists.

    • Issei

Your correct, another aspect of our fear is the SNIPERS or don’t you think so.

Stop all the rubbish talk.It was about the same situation when Abiola and Kingibe contested and were voted for overwhelmingly by Nigerians. You PDP folks better take a good look at Central African Republic and other religious driven conflicts to get a picture of what your stupid religious utterances can cause.Ignorant politicians.

    • Mosaku147

Who cares.even if the entire exco are Muslims, how does it concern you.we worked hard and voted Abiola/Kingibe .All we ask for is good governance period!

      • Nwa Aba #Lets Break Up Now

    • Sunkanmi

Why not list out all the excos and let Nigerians judge? Why list out only the Muslim exco members or does the APC have only 15 exco members. I suspect mischief here!

  • precious

PDP has no truth in there mouth. They have deceived the masses through many ways just to see that they remain in government index for them to keep exploiting the masses. And now that they are trying to introduce the religion tactice, i fear for Nigerians and i pray we shouldn’t fall for them this time.

  • abdulkareem jamiu

Come oh, I hope PDP is not taking Nigerian for a fool, if there is any group promoting religious sentiment in this country then it is GEJ led PDP. It happened on several occasions but to mention a few. On the issue of BH, a xtian lady was caught in Gombe state with explosive inside a church. But was shelved be cos she was not a Muslim, a xtian was caught in Bayelsa dressed in an Islamic attire trying to bomb a church but that did not received media attention, in Abuja FCT, a xtian was caught with explosive Trying to disrupt an occasion where Minister is to attend I. Area ten but that was attached to mental instability even when the guy was looking healthy. Check for instance several appointment under GEJ and strike religious balance and you will agree with me, not to mention a situation where a serving CAN president assume the spiritual leader of PDP, accepting a private jet as birthday gift claiming to be a man of God. Please, PDP should know that we are fed up of their impunity and begin to pack out of Asorock if they have nobody better than GEJ to offer. Period

She’s a new convert according to their comments.

we thank God for what she is. What has religious faith to do with the leadership of the party.

PDP is grounding itself with the kind of mischievious and myopic thinking of its leaders.

    • Nwa Aba #Lets Break Up Now

you only listed either deputy chairmen or ex-officio
      APC is a jihadist party

      • Sunkanmi

And why did you exclude the christian names in your own post.
