The FRSC said the accident was caused by “route violation”.
The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Kano Command, on Wednesday confirmed the death of five persons in an accident involving three vehicles on Wudil-Kano road.
Garba Ibrahim, the FRSC Kano Sector Commander, said in Kano that the accident occurred on Police Academy, Wudil road, on Tuesday.
He said seven persons were injured in the incident.
“Three vehicles were involved. A Ford with registration number XB 113 BSA, an Opel car (DG 209 ABC) and a DAF articulated vehicle with number KT 535 XA,” he said.
The commander said the accident was caused by “route violation’’.
Mr. Ibrahim warned road users to always avoid violation of rules and regulations ‘’because a small mistake or carelessness may cause fatal crashes that leads to loss of lives’’.
The Kano-Wudil-Maiduguri axis of the road has been a flash point of auto-crashes due to its extensive use by motorists plying the Northwest and Northeast zones of the country.
The Federal Government has awarded a contract to expand the road.
