Court discharges seven murder suspects for want of evidence

The suspects were re-arrested after the release.

An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday discharged seven murder suspects for want of evidence.

The suspects are Ojo Kolawole, Ojo Owolabi, Taiwo Onipede, Yemisi Ogunlusi, Abiodun Abayomi, Sola Kupoluyi and Femi Ajiboye.

They were discharged following an application by the prosecution to withdraw the charges against them.

In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Simeon Ojo, granted the prosecution’s application to withdraw the case for lack of evidence to prosecute it.

He struck out the case and discharged the accused persons.

The accused persons’ jubilation was short-lived when the police from Kogi re-arrested and took them to Kogi.

The Prosecutor, David Emmanuel, had told the court that the accused were arraigned on a five-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and murder of one Grace Audu.
