Man arraigned for allegedly raping own 15-year-old daughter

The suspect pleaded not guilty

A 48-year-old man, Sanni Idowu, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrate’s Court for raping his own 15-year-old daughter.

Mr. Idowu was reportedly arrested at Ifedapo, Amuloko area of Ibadan Magistrate District of Oyo state on October 23 for allegedly forcefully having canal knowledge of the daughter.

According to the prosecuting police officer, S. Ogunremi, the offence contravenes Sections 357 and 358 of the Criminal Code Cap. 38 Vol II Laws of Oyo state of Nigeria 2000.

When the charges were read to him, he pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, S.A. Oyediran, adjourned the case till December 9 for hearing and ordered that the accused person be remanded in prison till the next sitting.
