The Army began a five-day combat proficiency competition.
The Nigerian Army on Monday in Calabar began a five-day combat proficiency competition as part of its 2013 training programme.
The Commander of 13 Brigade, Nigerian Army Calabar, Brigadier General Okwudili Azinta, said that the competition was organised to strengthen the existing friendship in the army.
He said the competition would foster “espirit de corps” as a critical element in building cohesion within a combat formation. According to him, the competition is mainly a training activity organised by the 82 Division Nigerian Army, Enugu.
Also, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) the division, Major General Adebayo Olaniyi said the competition was organised to keep physical fitness and cultivate competitive spirit among the seven formations under the division.
Mr. Olaniyi was represented by Brigadier General David Lubo.
