President Jonathan inaugurated the conference committee on Monday.
The Chairman, Senate Committee on Information and Media, Enyinnaya Abaribe, said the constitutional issues arising from the national dialogue would not affect the constitution review by the National Assembly.
Mr. Abaribe told the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Monday that the National Assembly would not stop its ongoing constitution review on account of the national dialogue.
He was reacting to concerns in some quarters that the National Assembly might have to suspend the ongoing constitution review to allow it capture constitutional matters that could arise from the confab.
He said the constitution review was a continuous process and any relevant constitutional issue from the national dialogue would be included in the constitution.
“The National Assembly will go ahead with the constitution review because it is an ongoing process.
“Anything that comes from the national political conference will still be incorporated,’’ Mr. Abaribe said.
President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday inaugurated the 13-member Advisory Committee to draw up the modalities for convening the national dialogue.
