The council had approved projects worth N29.7 billion for Abuja last week.
One week after approving N29.7 billion for improvement of infrastructure in Abuja, the Executive Council of the Federation on Wednesday approved contracts worth N41 billion for projects in the Nigerian capital.
Wednesday’s approval follows a memo by the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Minister, Bala Mohammed.
Mr. Mohammed had sought the council’s approval for the rehabilitation and expansion of the outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) from the Aso Villa Roundabout to the OSEX / Ring Road 1(RR1) junction including five interchanges in favor of CGZ Nig Ltd for N39.8 billion.
According to the Abuja minister, the project is to ensure free flow of traffic and significantly reduce travel time in and out of the city. He said the project would also provide employment opportunities for about1500 professionals and artisans.
The council also approved N1.6 billion as engineering assistance for the development of additional 50 plots of land in the Asokoro District of Abuja. The plots are to be completed in 12 months.
