The new speaker appointed new principal officers for the Assembly.
The Clerk of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Umma Aliyu, has said that Usman Gangara, was properly impeached as the Speaker of the Assembly on Tuesday.
Mr. Gangara had rejected the impeachment by 19 of the 34 lawmakers, saying the house had adjourned indefinitely before his opponents sat for the impeachment.
But in a statement on Wednesday, Ms. Aliyu said the House did not adjourn its sittings as claimed by the former leadership.
“I wish to clearly state that the House sat on Thursday, Sept.19 and adjourned to Tuesday, Sept. 24, when the former speaker was removed,” she said.
Ms. Aliyu added that the Assembly had also sat on Wednesday, Sept. 25, between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., when the new speaker announced appointment of new principal officers.

Announcing the new officers, Mr. Tahir said Umar Muhammed (PDP-Lere East), was selected as the Majority Leader, while Easther Habu (PDP- Sanga), would serve as Deputy Majority Leader.
Phelimon Gidanmana (PDP-Makera), according to the speaker, would serve as Chief Whip; while the position of Minority Leader would be occupied by Bala Yunusa (APC-Tudun Wada).
He said Haliru Sambo (APC- Ikara West), would be the Deputy Minority whip, with Yakubu Soja (APC-Zaria Kewaye) holding the position of Minority Whip.
