The women also commended the steps of the federal government against terrorism.
The Women of Anglican Church of Nigeria have called on members of the Rivers legislature to concentrate on serving the people who elected them.
Olufunke Oluwarohunbi, Vice President, Mothers’ Union\Women’s Guild of the church, made the call at the 2013 Arch-Deaconry Women Conference of Church of the Advent in Gwarinpa, Abuja on Saturday.
She said the crisis rocking the House is appalling.
“We appeal to them to bury their hatchet and dwell less on frivolities. Rather, they should concentrate on serving the people who entrusted them with their mandate.
“We call on politicians and public office holders to look up to Jesus to empower them with the unction to function effectively in their respective positions’’, she said.
Mrs. Oluwarohunbi commended steps taken by the Federal Government to tackle terrorism in the country adding that, the approach had resulted in uncovering many of the perpetrators.
She welcomed the state of emergency declared in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa, noting that would help to fight the menace of terrorism in the country.
She commended Abia State Government for creating youth employment programme saying that, it would better their lives and called on other state governments to tap into the idea of making the youths responsible through employment generation.
The Minister of Land, Housing and Urban Development, Ama Pepple, represented by the Director of Legal Services of the ministry, Bose Bakare, urged the women to live righteously.
According to Ms. Pepple, there is need for women to focus on Christ even at the point of challenges.
“As Christian mothers and women, our Lord Jesus Christ continues to be perfect example and strength at all times and in all situations.
“So when we face challenges at home, in our places of work, in our businesses and even in the church, let us continue to fix our eyes on Jesus.
“If we remain steadfast, we will also reign with him’’, she said.
