Residents of Edoji Community of Uruagu Nnewi in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State are in great danger following the abandonment of road construction work in the area.
According to a resident living at MbanaEdoji, the community has now been disconnected from Nnewi because of the heavy erosion triggered by the abandoned road work in the area.
A visit to the community showed that the MbanaEdoji erosion was caused by the drainage construction from the Anglican Girls junction down to MbanaEdoji by the Consolidated Construction Company, CCC.
The erosion has affected residents living around St. John’s Anglican Church in the community but the MbanaEdoji residents are the worst affected.
Some of the residents interviewed pleaded with state Governor Peter Obi to give urgent attention to the issue to save the entire community from being disconnected from Nnewi by the erosion.
Recall that PREMIUM TIMES had on May 28 reported about the erosion in the Edoji community.
